David Bowie - Love Is Lost (Hello Steve Reich Mix By James Murphy For The DFA)

David Bowie's glorious and unexpected The Next Day album will see a three disc edition expanded release of November 5th. First taster of what we can expect is this 10+ minute remix of Love Is Lost by DFA founder James Murphy. The minimalistic electronic approach is something we treasure and there is much drama in this new atmosphere. The rock aspect of the original mix is completely subdued and instead the line Oh, what have you done is chanted like a sad mantra over and over with the piercing synth and added echoes shining like black pavement in the street lights after heavy rain. Sounding like a 12" vinyl played live until the whole audience is hypnotized we think this is one of the best things coming out of TND project - and that is saying a lot considering how brilliant it is to begin with. The remix is a nod to musician Steve Reich as Murphy was obessed with that style of clapping music. The expanded version of the album will contain five unreleased songs + 2 remixes. Listen below and start counting down the days until November 5th! Enjoy!

Mash-Up: TLC VS. The Knife - Creepy Heartbeats

TLC's classic (and first) Billboard #1 from '94 Creep is a legendary cheating anthem talking about a truly dysfunctional relationship. The frankness, harmonies and sampled horn section makes for a truly outstanding track. Equally enchanting and sick is of course The Knife's 2002 masterpiece Heartbeats that we honestly already know will listen to until our last breath, haha. This mash proves that it's not just Ashanti and Fat Joe who can get down with the Dreijer siblings. We absolutely love the honey R&B harmonies with the steely production of the music. It works so well and when Karin's voice hits us midway we definitely need some hands to lean on. A superb start to the weekend's shenanigans early from Nashville based Pimpdaddysupreme for sure. Go grab the .mp3 below and enjoy!

Free Download: Sinéad O'Connor VS. Miley Cyrus - Nothing Compares To Wrecking Ball

Obviously everything sounds better with some Sinéad O'Connor and Prince behind it! Even Miley Cyrus and her Wrecking Ball is tolerable to our ears now, haha. We completely agree with Sinéad on the whole sexualization and pimping out artists for $$$ and not caring about the art or person behind it and how tiresome that is. The biggest evident is the video to this mash-up. Strip back the heavy duty side of the WB video and you're left with an amazing singer and a very tender and heartfelt song that shines. That's all you need for sure! Nothing Compares To Wrecking Ball sounds heavenly and really complement each other. We actually thought a reason Sinéad got so angry with all the open letters etc. was that she saw a grain of herself in the rebellious way Miley presents herself. Granted it's a very different way, but still some similarities are there. Plus, since this mash-up is so amazing, they really should work together and blow everyone out of the water. In this version we can't get over how insanely good these lyrics sound.

Ane Brun Feat. Linnea Olsson - Halo (Beyoncé Cover)

We love it when amazing Ane Brun takes on well known songs. Luckily for us she does that often. She has incredible taste in music to choose them of course. But then something magical happens. Ane has this thing of completely making them her own, infusing the songs with her unique sound. What comes next is what we love the most. While she transforms classic songs into something new and thrilling, she makes us realize how much we love the originals to begin with. That takes a true musician loving her own body of work we think! Beyoncé's grandly produced show closer Halo becomes a sweet, tender and sunny love poem impossible not to love. By her side is pop cellist Linnea Olsson who adds lovely sunbeams with her craft, and near the end she lends her beautiful husky voice as well. This gem can be found on Rarities which collects some truly wonderful covers including her Björk and Leonard Cohen ones. It's out now! Click here and here for some more amazing Brun covers! Thoughts?

Free Download: Adeva - Warning! (Eliot Remix)

Yaaas gurl! Adeva's 1989 house anthem Warning! gets a fresh new outfit by Jessica 6's producer Eliot! And ! will be frequently used in this blog post! We love the added depth of the bassline that makes it feel contemporary, but the drum machine and hand claps keeps it sound old school at the same time. Niiiice! Adeva's sicknin' POWER vocals are high up in the mix and really shine. The added chopped layers bring out some nice dub vibes too. This is the perfect way to start the weekend early. Bring out the spandex pants and mini heels and get d.o.w.n. The classic video is not to be missed either! Top marks Eliot! For the .mp3 click here
