Video Premiere: Björk - The Gate

Björk has described her upcoming ninth studio album Utopia as her Tinder album. After her divorce and subsequent 2015 heartbreak album, the incredibly intense Vulnicura it's no wonder. Although we wonder if she's aware how unromantic that app really is and so hard to navigate away from the spam profiles, haha. The Gate is the first taste from her new collection of songs and as with any Björk era it both sounds and looks like an event beyond this dimension. The song, co-produced by Arca, pulsates and gleams and builds around a "care for" aspect that sounds gorgeous. The production really outs the vocals front and centre and both feels like classical music and as a glimpse into the future. The visuals directed by Andrew Thomas Huang lends a warmth and a tenderness coated in armour that we just love. B being a fashionista, too, is clad by Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, looking every inch like the wondrous being she is. Cannot wait for more!

Video Premiere: Kesha - Praying

Kesha has been in career limbo and gone through pure hell. Read up on it here. This post is about celebrating her triumphant return with brand new single Praying! After being away for so long, 4 years, it's perfection she's returing in such a bombastic way. It's literally the resurrection of Kesha and it's not the same artist we got to know in 2010 that's for sure. Gone are the heavy effects on her voice and now it gets to fully shine, that ending OMG! The nod to 70's rock music is simply amazing and fits her perfectly. The visuals with religious themes looks like a rock opera film and states her return in the most awesome way. Her upcoming album Rainbow is out August 11th. *crying* 

Video Premiere: The Sound of Arrows - Beautiful Life

Brand new The Sound of Arrows! The Swedish duo return with the gorgeous and moving Beautiful Life, their first outing in five years. Stefan Storm and Oskar Gullstrand released their debut album Voyage in 2011 and have created stunning remixes along the way for artists such as Lady GaGa. This new single had us at the intro alone and truly up their game in a sharp and gleaming way. The first 37 seconds is like a bright summer morning just waiting for the day to take off, which it does when the strings start shimmering around the 38 second mark. Stefan's vocals are so beautiful and evoke such tender feelings. And they're so understated and effortless which pairs so well with the gleaming and dramatic strings. A symphony of emotions if you will. The lyrical motif sets the scene of a brooding night of longing and hoping and the visuals are equally as striking. Gorgeous scenery and locations plus awesome cinematography all make for one beautiful video. The lone figure in sportswear in the middle of it all makes it a bit raw and like an everyday situation, despite all the phenomenal things around him. Much like life itself, no? It all happens when we least expect it and we just have to embrace it. Top marks!    

Video Premiere: Lorde - Green Light

New Zealand queen of indie pop, Lorde is back with a bang! Green Light veers greatly from her debut album and heads more into a pure pop territory. It'll be interesting to hear what the full album will sound like. She's 20 now, not 16 and has traveled the workd so it's bound to be a mixed bag! This first taster is both musically + visually a party anthem, house piano and fist pumping dance moves. Welcome back, Lorde!   

Video Premiere: Goldfrapp - Anymore

Alison + Will are back with a bang only Goldfrapp could produce. We've loved the slow electro pulse of Anymore since the second we heard the first teaser. Gah, so good! The visuals are equally striking. We're mad for the combination of gorgeous scenery with modern dance, pulsating rhythm and Alison's incredible vocals. We could go on, and on, but honestly it needs to be seen! Silver Eye, their seventh studio album is out on March 31st!
