Video Premiere: Björk - The Gate

Björk has described her upcoming ninth studio album Utopia as her Tinder album. After her divorce and subsequent 2015 heartbreak album, the incredibly intense Vulnicura it's no wonder. Although we wonder if she's aware how unromantic that app really is and so hard to navigate away from the spam profiles, haha. The Gate is the first taste from her new collection of songs and as with any Björk era it both sounds and looks like an event beyond this dimension. The song, co-produced by Arca, pulsates and gleams and builds around a "care for" aspect that sounds gorgeous. The production really outs the vocals front and centre and both feels like classical music and as a glimpse into the future. The visuals directed by Andrew Thomas Huang lends a warmth and a tenderness coated in armour that we just love. B being a fashionista, too, is clad by Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, looking every inch like the wondrous being she is. Cannot wait for more!

Björk's Vulnicura Live Version album is finally out on all formats! Initially it was a physical only in collaboration with Rough Trade who got an exclusive version for eight months. NOW all those are out of print and we get to stream it, finally! Fin the full album on Spotify here. Teaser track below is the magical Come To Me from her absolute landmark solo debut album, Debut, from 1993. We love it so, and here it's transformed from almost a lullaby into something from another realm. The opening line alone is hypnotizing with its echo and it's gleaming and so suggestive that we get goose bumps. The added sharpness and dark side is transfixing and B's voice sounds incredible. The Arca musical collaboration thrusts the music into a starry night filled with burning desires and crystal clear waters with a black sand sea bed. LOVE IT! The album sounds incredible and we love the focus on Vulnicura but with nods to other different album eras. It ties her tour together in the most perfect way.        

Video Premiere: Björk - Black Lake

The video for Björk's Vulnicura epos Black Lake has been screening at the MoMA in New York for the last three months. Here it finally is online and honestly we can all go home now. It's the definite breakup song and the visuals are piercing to say the least and magnificent. Shot on Iceland in the highlands it tells a dark story of utter heartbreak. The video is brilliantly directed by Andrew Thomas Huang and goes above and beyond to really hammer the message home. Watching it makes you feel a bit powerless since the only thing you wanna do is stop Björk from hurting. It's hypnotizing to watch the darkness surround her and her Iris van Herpen outfits truly makes her become one with nature. The ending gives a sigh of relief until that moment you realize; where is she going?
