David Bowie - Love Is Lost (Hello Steve Reich Mix By James Murphy For The DFA)

David Bowie's glorious and unexpected The Next Day album will see a three disc edition expanded release of November 5th. First taster of what we can expect is this 10+ minute remix of Love Is Lost by DFA founder James Murphy. The minimalistic electronic approach is something we treasure and there is much drama in this new atmosphere. The rock aspect of the original mix is completely subdued and instead the line Oh, what have you done is chanted like a sad mantra over and over with the piercing synth and added echoes shining like black pavement in the street lights after heavy rain. Sounding like a 12" vinyl played live until the whole audience is hypnotized we think this is one of the best things coming out of TND project - and that is saying a lot considering how brilliant it is to begin with. The remix is a nod to musician Steve Reich as Murphy was obessed with that style of clapping music. The expanded version of the album will contain five unreleased songs + 2 remixes. Listen below and start counting down the days until November 5th! Enjoy!
