Video Premiere: FKA twigs - Pendulum

We had the absolute pleasure of catching FKA twigs live in Copenhagen last year. What struck us was how incredibly well her alternate universe in her visuals translated into a live show. It was literally like staring at a vision from another dimension. Love it! One of debut album LP1's highlights is the magical Pendulum. Those heartbreaking lyrics paired with a sparse beat just gets us everytime. Not to mention that soaring chorus! The self-directed video is equally moving. It feels like being transported into FKA's psyche, all tangeled up from love, literally. Tied up in herself and marked. It's dark and moving, but also beautiful and intriguing. As always, top marks twigs! PS. If any problems with the player, try here

Free Download: Lana Del Rey VS. FKA twigs - Old Money Pendulum

Wow, we love this! Lana Del Rey's lush string and piano ballad Old Money meets FKA twigs' Pendulum and things really gets swingin'! Both songs are in their original forms extremely representative of both artists so how crazy to hear them like this. Old's air of an old world filled with luxurious things meets the bare bones of the twigs production and opens up a whole forest of things. Plus it's amazing to realize how much warmth FKA's voice adds to her sparse beats when she's missing altogether like this. Lana sounds like a ghost from a bygone era that's gone missing at a London electro club and at the 03:47 mark our heart just explodes. So good! Top marks for thinking of and creating this Stuart Mauck!  Thoughts?

Best of '14: The Year In Music

This year, for us, has truly flown by and we're blown away that it's already time to sum up all the music! As always it's been a true pleasure listening and talking with ya'll and we send each and every one of you a big thank you! The golden songs for us this year are too many to count so we collected 50 of our top tracks and put them together with with no particular ranking. Below is the Soundcloud player and we've also created the same for Spotify and Deezer so feel free to take your pick of platform! Due to copyright restrictions they differ slightly but each is roughly the same 50 tracks! Standouts for us this year has been the magic of Jessie Ware, Röyksopp & Robyn's Do It Again era, FKA twigs' experimental beats and George Maple's insanely good Talk Talk single. Speaking of twigs - her concert in Copenhagen was our live highlight of the year. Incredible! Being named in October by Deezer as one of the best music blogs from Sweden was an awesome moment and we gotta say we're having a true badass time curating and finding gems! Here's to 2015 and a new stellar year together! Enjoooooy! :D

Free Download: Madonna - Frozen (FKA twigs' LP1 Style)

Wow, love this! Amazing! FKA twigs has with her debut album LP1 quickly established her as a sonic explorer and innovator. Her sound is distinct for her 100% with deep basslines, soaring high vocals paired with down pitched ones. It's suggestive and deeply transfixing to say the least. When Madonna released Frozen in 1998 she transformed herselfoth with a brand new electronic sound. M and Patrick Leonard's amazing lament paired with William Orbit's stellar co-production and Craig Armstrong's string arrangement (and not forgetting Chris Cunningham's video) truly is one for the ages. Now Spanish producer Álvaro Estévez Delgado has created an amazing alternate universe where Madonna's classic becomes an FKA styled production. We love it - a lot! Everything is here, the changed vocal pitch both ways, the dramatic and minimalistic background with the icy strings intact. You only see what your eyes want to see is chanted over and over and really embeds the message of the song in one single sentence. Imagine a real FKA MDNA collaboration with Álvaro, William etc, etc naturally! Too damn good. Thoughts?

Video Premiere: FKA twigs - Video Girl

We had a blast at FKA twigs' Copenhagen concert last week. Too awesome, and a massive crowd! And so damn hot, literally. We were melting from the get go. One of the crowd favourites was Video Girl - the true story of FKA as Tahliah Debrett Barnett making her way through a slew of UK pop videos just a few years ago. Like this one for instance. Here's the visuals to her tale and WOW, this is all kinds of intense. Starting off with the unsettling Preface from her stunning LP1 album, we get a glimpse of sheer horror as her lover (?) is prepared to be executed. With that terror firmly in place Video Girl kicks off and twigs dances around the strapped down man. Travi$ Scott turns up like a demon with a mouth full of blood. WOW, it's a lot to take in. An idea popped into our head watching. It could be about truly letting go of the past, moving forward and experience all the hurt and perhaps guilt of heading in a new direction. Plus a truly ironic twist to the sexiness of standard pop videos. Humping a man strapped down on death row is a theme not found in yer Katy Perry's or Taylor Swift's! Thoughts?
