Free Download: FKA twigs VS. BANKS - Drowning With The Lights On

This is terrifyingly good, ya'll. BANKS and FKA twigs meet in this Drowning With The Lights On mashup and we love it so. They both possess the ability to electrify with darkness and stir major emotions through their musical output. When combined it's fantastic. Drowning's deeper instrumentation and twig's ethereal voice from Lights On make it sound like a mythical creature is hovering over a dark, endless pit looking for a missing lover. Drowned? It's too much and so perfect.

When I trust you we can do it with the lights on
When I trust you we’ll make love until the morning
Let me tell you all my secrets and I’ll whisper ‘til the day is done

Best of '14: The Year In Music

This year, for us, has truly flown by and we're blown away that it's already time to sum up all the music! As always it's been a true pleasure listening and talking with ya'll and we send each and every one of you a big thank you! The golden songs for us this year are too many to count so we collected 50 of our top tracks and put them together with with no particular ranking. Below is the Soundcloud player and we've also created the same for Spotify and Deezer so feel free to take your pick of platform! Due to copyright restrictions they differ slightly but each is roughly the same 50 tracks! Standouts for us this year has been the magic of Jessie Ware, Röyksopp & Robyn's Do It Again era, FKA twigs' experimental beats and George Maple's insanely good Talk Talk single. Speaking of twigs - her concert in Copenhagen was our live highlight of the year. Incredible! Being named in October by Deezer as one of the best music blogs from Sweden was an awesome moment and we gotta say we're having a true badass time curating and finding gems! Here's to 2015 and a new stellar year together! Enjoooooy! :D

Stream: BANKS - Beggin For Thread (Gryffin & Hotel Garuda Remix)

The BANKS Goddess album is sweet darkness and an epic trip into a brooding forest of sounds. That said; ain't nothing wrong with some beach n' sunshine either! Especially since Jillian is from L.A! NYC based DJ Gryffin and the DC/L.A Hotel Garuda duo team up for a ride in the Cali sun and do some Beggin For Thread. There is somethin' crazy and wonderful to her these particular lyrics over a sunny and friendly beat. Love that! If you do too you can grab a free .mp3 here - if you are willing to connect with the PR team behind the DJ's. Enjoy! Thank you Mr. Dawson

Free Download: BANKS - Are You That Somebody? (Aaliyah Cover) [Lincoln Flip]

BANKS goddess goodness keeps on comin' and we ain't complaining! This time it's a bootleg mix of her stunning BBC live cover of Aaliyah's Timbaland produced 1998 masterpiece Are You That Somebody?. San Diego based producer Lincoln takes the acoustic cover and builds on it with a super hot and hard synth and added drums. It's really awesome and adds a whole new dark dimension to her vocals. No sampled baby laughter like in the original of course, but still comes closer to it while bringing something fresh to the mix. It's hot, tight and showcases Jillian Banks' crazy good voice and serves as a reminder how cool the original really is. Love it!

Premiere: BANKS - Drowning (MORLY Remix)

BANKS' debut album Goddess is on constant repeat here since its release last week. We're blown away by the amazing and eclectic sounds to say the least. How amazing to have have quite intricate songs followed up by stripped down material like that. Amazing! One of our absolute favourite BANKS tracks to date is her incredible Drowning. So soothing, heartbreaking and awesome all rolled into one. Fellow newcomer, Minnesota based producer MORLY takes it on and builds on the dark atmosphere. She creates an intense moment with that powerful and slow bassline sprinkled with slow claps, mysterious sounds and twisted vocals and we get humming too! Damn it's good! The usage French horn makes us think of Björk and the jacked up voice is spot on Fever Ray. Amazing names to come to think of! Enjooy the mellow goodness below!
