Lana Del Rey - Blue Velvet - Full Video Version

Lana Del Rey's cover of the classic song Blue Velvet premiered Monday - and here's the full video for it. It serves in pieces as the TV ads for H&M's F/W '12 and since the aesthetics are full on 1950's along with the designs this is perfect for Lana fronting it. Also since she's scored her second Vogue cover she's a golden girl for 'em! We really like this version and with some David Lynch references you can never go wrong, haha.

Lana Del Rey - Blue Velvet - Premiere

Since Lana Del Rey is the face of H&M for F/W 12 what better to have a new single out as well as a tie-in! For the commercials and her re-issue of Born To Die she's recorded her version of the absolute classic Blue Velvet from 1950. It's been covered numerous times, two of the most famous takes are Bobby Vinton's 1963 version, and of course the hypnotising and iconic take by Isabella Rossellini in David Lynch's 1986 movie of the same name. Naturally all of this fits Lana's image perfectly so we're not at all surprised. Her voice fits it like a glove too! 2:54 - Killer (Adamski & Seal Cover)

Growing up in front of MTV in the early 90's you could count on one video always being on heavy rotation on late nights - Adamski and Seal's insanely flawless Killer. That bassline! Those rough vocals. Argh, it's perfection. 2:54 sisters Hannah and Colette Thurlow are currently supporting The xx on tour and their version contains DNA strains of their xx relationship. Patrick Wolf - Overture + Born To Die (Lana Del Rey Cover)

Patrick Wolf is such a talent and we're so impressed by his work. His classical elements and stylings are so wonderful! The House video from last year is still so breathtaking as an example. This week he stopped by BBC Radio 2 to promote his upcoming album Sundark and Riverlight - listen to the full interview, new track Overture is around the 7 minute mark. Love this song! It remins us of both Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush so how can it be bad, haha. He went on to performing a stunning version of Lana Del Rey's Born To Die. We can never get tired of hearing her songs apparently - they are just gifts that keep on giving. There are some truly amazing covers out there of her material - and now we have a new one to add. Patrick's voice lends some serious drama and elegance, as if her stuff isn't that already, haha. But this is in a different way. Listen below! Thoughts?

Polar Music Prize 2012 - Musical Performances

The equivalent to a Nobel Prize for a musician would have to be the Polar Music Prize. This years recipients are Paul Simon and Yo-Yo Ma, who both traveled to Sweden to accept. Both are exceptional at their craft and truly well deserved winners. Some of Sweden's finest contemporary artists paid tribute - and below are what we gathered from our beloved youtube! Really amazing to see the reaction from Paul Simon watching and taking in the moment. Must be such an emotional roller coaster hearing your babies like this sitting next to the Swedish royals and being so in the spotlight for your life accomplishments. Enjoy!
