Adele is having a fantastic release week of 25, of course she is - she's AMAZING. In the US alone she sold 900K copies on iTunes in ONE day. We cannot wait to see the global sales next week - they'll be unreal. She performed Hello and When We Were Young and also saved Thanksgiving on SNL last night. She might as well rename herself as SLAYDELE as she slayed everyone. Sounding fantastic and so effortless and amazin'. She deserves it ALL - she's incredible. ENJOY below!
Jessica Lange as Elsa Mars in American Horror Story: Freak Show continues to deliver the good big time! After her stellar performance of David Bowie's Life On Mars? - here's an amazing cover of Lana Del Rey's Gods & Monsters. Scheduled to be performed in this week's episode we cannot wait to see the visuals. Since this is for Amercian TV - naturally this is a clean version that omits all the fucks. Can we hope for the OST to have a dirty version too? Elsa deserves that for sure! We love her Marlene Dietrich influenced delivery and how an amazing storyteller she is. Listen below! Thoughts?
Jessica Lange made a lot of people extremely happy last week, including us. She as Elsa Mars sangDavid Bowie's iconic 1971 single Life On Mars? during the season premiere of American Horror Story: Freak Show and it was so good! Styled in the vein of Marlene Dietrich's classic cabaret delivery and using the original music it was a glorious mishmash that totally worked and really added to the storyline. Elsa being disappointed by life and her own lack of fame go so well together with Bowie saying in 1997: I think she [the girl in the song] finds herself disappointed with reality... that although she's living in the doldrums of reality, she's being told that there's a far greater life somewhere, and she's bitterly disappointed that she doesn't have access to it. It's a great rendition and the TV version even mimics the classic video. Since this week it has a stand alone release on iTunes as a single, very cool! It's on repeat here tonight!
Legendary innovator n' casual badass Kate Bush launchs her first concert series in 35 years next week at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London. To coincide with this amazing occasion the BBC has produced a brand new documentary chronicling the Bush story. Elusive as ever, Kate herself, of course, is nowhere to be seen apart from stock footage from interviews and TV appearances. This feels 100% correct and it's amazing to get a summary concentrated like this. What we get that's newly produced is interviews with the likes of Tori Amos, Bat For Lashes, Tricky and St. Vincent expressing their enormous adoration. It's wonderful to see, she truly is an artist's artist. A singer's singer. We also get a peek inside with new interviews with key collaborators such as Dave Gilmore, Peter Gabriel and Lindsay Kemp. Not to mention a slight personal angle from her (now ex-) boyfriend of 10+ years Del Palmer, who also has worked extensively as her sound engineer. The mix is enticing and we love how accessible Kate seems for just a fleeting second. Enjoy the full hour below! Thoughts?
St. Vincent brought the house down at SNL yesterday with her irresistible mix of art rock, awesome choreography and humour. Gotta have it all baby! Her two singles Digital Witness and Birth In Reverse from her 2014 eponymous album sounded magical and her vocals were truly outstanding. Especially the latter had us mesmerized with its minimalistic setting, lighting effects, movements and most importantly flawless musical execution. She came out blazing on top and now we really wanna see her live! Enjoy below!
