Premiere: David Lynch - And Light Shines

And in case you weren't planning on sleeping tonight, here's the perfect way to keep that going. It's approaching midnight here so holy crap. David Lynch is preparing for the release of the super deluxe edition of his sophomore album The Big Dream by releasing the brand new And Light Shines. Over a monotonous beat with bursts of piercing steel we're getting a prophet in full on beast mode. Talking about hell, angels and no birds, sun or the likes. Yeah, the light shines but we have a feeling all is not well after that night. Says Lynch’s producer, Dean Hurley: It's music for the end crawl of a bootlegged sci-fi/ horror film that you borrowed from your friend’s older brother and caused  you to realize for the first time that you were actually scared in broad daylight. How nice! Enjoy! We're gonna get ready for bed...

Premiere: David Lynch - Are You Sure (Bastille Remix)

Start the weekend with his superb and a bit spooky Bastille remix of David Lynch's dreamy Are You Sure. We're suckers for the original, found on The Big Dream album, and this mix opens up a whole new dimension. Dan Smith of Bastille has added harmonies and backing vocals that leaves our brain trying to figure out if it's heavenly or hellish ones. Perhaps it's right in between. Sounding lovely, there is also an element of pure darkness found. Secrets hoping they're forgotten lurking in the background... We said about the album version it was like stepping into a small bar in a strange town and hearing your whole life unveil through the jukebox in a corner. This is still true, but this time it's a live show with father and son singing softly in the corner, with people moving slowly in the shadows.

Premiere: David Lynch - Are You Sure

David Lynch's sophomore album The Big Dream drops on July 15th and we're too excited! First taster - the heavenly collaboration with Lykke Li (!!) I'm Waiting Here is perfection so the wait is unbearable almost. To soothe us until then - here's the first official single Are You Sure with David himself on vocal. Evoking a long forgotten 50's track we're mad about the eerie dreaminess and the simplicity. Like stepping into a small bar in a strange town and hearing your whole life unveil through the jukebox in a corner.

Video Premiere: David Lynch & Lykke Li - I'm Waiting Here

The fact that David Lynch and Lykke Li have collaborated was last week's huge surprise. We love the hypnotizing I'm Waiting Here and naturally it needs some hypnotic visuals. The video concept was created by Lykke and visual artist Daniel DeSure but not directed by Lynch surprisingly enough. In what looks like a prequel to Lost Highway's classic opening scene we get knots in our stomach watching. Who is driving and where are they going? And where do they end up? And why? Will we ever know?

Premiere: David Lynch & Lykke Li - I'm Waiting Here

Two of our favourite artists just came together in the hugest way possible! Legendary David Lynch drops a new album this summer, The Big Dream, and on it features a bonus track with Lykke Li! The result I'm Waiting Here is CRAZY GOOD YA'LL and we're almost breaking our laptop typing this so quickly to get it out to you! It sounds like the direct link to David's AMAZING collaboration with Julee Cruise and Angelo Badalamenti. Perhaps a bit less dreamy and ethereal, but still. That jukebox and vintage feel paired with some truly eerie and perfect lyrcis and vocals. Enough typing, enjoy! PS. The pic of David was shot by Lykke herself!
