Video Premiere: Neneh Cherry Feat. Robyn - Out Of The Black

Neneh Cherry and Robyn's Out Of The Black got some lo-fi visuals by Dario Vigorito to go with the minimalistic Four Tet production of the music and we love it. The whole package is rock hard cut-and-paste NTSC analog PAL realness. Neneh's opening verse of trying to mind her business so bad stuff she can't witness goes perfectly with the visuals. The blurred signals of yesteryear are brutally beaten up now with cold, hard HD reality. The quick clip of the Downing Street street sign sends that signal too. We're out of the black... but into what? Check it out below! Thoughts?

Free Download: Gisele Bündchen – All Day and All of the Night

We walked past an H&M last night and out of the speakers was Gisele Bündchen's The Kinks cover of All Day and All of the Night blasting out. While her version is a bit more polished than the classic 1964 gritty garage rock original it's still sounds really good. We like that her voice has a warm tone and her English accent is so distinct. That alone elevates the cover for sure. It's totally cute too! This could totally be on one of those Hotel Costes compilations, haha. However, we really miss the badass Dave Davies guitar solo making it sound all PROTOPUNK and creates a wonderful personality to the song. Shame! The cover came to be as Gisele is H&M's model for Fall/Winter '13 and is released through them. If you buy on iTunes a portion will go to UNICEF's work. The free download can be found here and and a behind the scenes style video here. Are you gonna dance 60's style tonight?

Lana Del Rey - Blue Velvet - Full Video Version

Lana Del Rey's cover of the classic song Blue Velvet premiered Monday - and here's the full video for it. It serves in pieces as the TV ads for H&M's F/W '12 and since the aesthetics are full on 1950's along with the designs this is perfect for Lana fronting it. Also since she's scored her second Vogue cover she's a golden girl for 'em! We really like this version and with some David Lynch references you can never go wrong, haha.

Lana Del Rey - Blue Velvet - Premiere

Since Lana Del Rey is the face of H&M for F/W 12 what better to have a new single out as well as a tie-in! For the commercials and her re-issue of Born To Die she's recorded her version of the absolute classic Blue Velvet from 1950. It's been covered numerous times, two of the most famous takes are Bobby Vinton's 1963 version, and of course the hypnotising and iconic take by Isabella Rossellini in David Lynch's 1986 movie of the same name. Naturally all of this fits Lana's image perfectly so we're not at all surprised. Her voice fits it like a glove too! Visit our tumblr here for the premiere, we'll update w an embedded stream when it becomes available. Thoughts?

Cindy Sherman for MAC Cosmetics

Conceptual photographer Cindy Sherman has teamed up with MAC for their latest campaign. Last we mentioned her was a year ago when she did this for Balenciaga if you remember. Basically MAC sent her the A/W colours and she did her thing presenting them in a way that only she can. First we have The Plastic Surgery Maven - a person who has went overboard on staying eternally young thru plastic surgery, ending up a sad clown and an embodiment of the times we live in. Secondly there is Caravaggio Corpse, a social comment we're guessing based on Caravaggio's Death of the Virgin in which he used the body of his drowned lover Lena who was a prostitute. The comment being to us a woman being dead on the inside and being used to sell things. Lastly we have Hitchcock Heroine, a nod to Hitchcock's notorious way to portray women in his films (we think). Do you like this campaign? MAC are known for pushing boundaries, and we like this not being another airbrushed to death beauty series convincing people to buy more stuff by promising fluffy dreams. Instead this disturning series made the blog rounds anyway.
