Video Premiere: David Lynch & Lykke Li - I'm Waiting Here

The fact that David Lynch and Lykke Li have collaborated was last week's huge surprise. We love the hypnotizing I'm Waiting Here and naturally it needs some hypnotic visuals. The video concept was created by Lykke and visual artist Daniel DeSure but not directed by Lynch surprisingly enough. In what looks like a prequel to Lost Highway's classic opening scene we get knots in our stomach watching. Who is driving and where are they going? And where do they end up? And why? Will we ever know?

Two of our favourite artists just came together in the hugest way possible! Legendary David Lynch drops a new album this summer, The Big Dream, and on it features a bonus track with Lykke Li! The result I'm Waiting Here is CRAZY GOOD YA'LL and we're almost breaking our laptop typing this so quickly to get it out to you! It sounds like the direct link to David's AMAZING collaboration with Julee Cruise and Angelo Badalamenti. Perhaps a bit less dreamy and ethereal, but still. That jukebox and vintage feel paired with some truly eerie and perfect lyrcis and vocals. Enough typing, enjoy! PS. The pic of David was shot by Lykke herself! 

Peaches - Free Pussy Riot - Video + Free Download

The idea of being arrested for speaking your mind and expressing your opinions is mind-boggling to us. Sadly we are acutely aware that this is the case in some parts of the world. Just imagine if this blog would be targeted as the enemy by a government - simply because we write about what we like. This is the case with Russian punk act Pussy Riot - who saw three members detained and tried as hooligans because they are against the sitting president Vladimir Putin + the Russian patriarchate, and expressed their views publicly. We're sure you have read about it! However, the verdict is in tomorrow and we urge you to take a stand to show that the world is watching. Peaches has put together a video and started a change.org petition that will show that we are united and free-thinkers who wants these women released. Plus we're thinking it's time to lift the issue of political prisoners and prisoners of conscience even further up on the agenda! #freepussyriot! Sign and spread here! Amnesty petition here! Lykke Li VS. Nicki Minaj - I Follow Starships - Free Download

This mash-up would be the most unexpected track we've heard today. The bangin' The Magician remix of Lykke Li's I Follow Rivers gets kidnapped by Nicki Minaj's Starships and taken to a galaxy far, far away for some fucking and getting high. It works - and we'd say it would work the best late in the DJ set, haha. So you can get the party goin' and serve some drinks beforehand! Sadly it's the clean radio edit with no swearin' so make sure to shout that over the track. Enjoy!

Lykke Li - Silver Springs (Fleetwood Mac Cover) - Premiere

We honestly can't think of a better pairing this summer than Lykke Li and Fleetwood Mac. Listen to this on a gorgeous summer day with windows open and the sun shining in! Silver Springs was originally recorded for the classic Fleetwood 1976 album Rumours - which has sold in 40 million copies. It was however never included until 2004's re-issue! Lykke takes this radio friendly track and throws some black glitter dust on top - creating a new layer of depth so the lyrics really sparkle of sadness. The instrumentation is sparse and production reminds us of an old 1950's jukebox. Amazing. We love both Lykke Li's and Stevie Nicks' voices so what an amazing treat to have both to play back to back! Since this new version is part of the Fleetwood Mac tribute album Just Tell Me That You Want Me can we hope for a duet in the future! How awesome would that be?! Other artists on this album will be Marianne Faithfull, Karen Elson and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy so looking forward! It'll be out August 14th so ya know! Enjoy!
