Premiere: Röyksopp Feat. Jamie Irrepressible - Something In My Heart

This is so sick! Too good! Fantastic! Röyksopp are readying the international release on December 16th of their superb Running To The Sea single. Amidst remixes of said track they casually dropped the B-side, Something In My Heart, featuring vocals by The Irrepressibles lead vocalist Jamie. Someone bring the smelling salt as we just fainted a bit! Over a minimalistic electronic beat we're getting heavenly dreamy vocals. The hardness of the music paired with the tender voice singing of missing a loved one melts us into a puddle of heart-shaped tears. When the electronic backing vocals kick in we just have to surrender. Amazing! Can we call this a double A-side and have it on repeat everywhere?!

Free Download: Michael Jackson - Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' (Louis La Roche Remix)

Michael Jackson's amazing sure-fire party starter Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' was written for Jackson sister LaToya. MJ and Quincy Jones wrote it with her in mind, but we all know who ended up recording it. Released in May '83 as the fourth of seven singles from Thriller it wasn't a huge hit on its own. Amazingly enough it only reached US #81 and UK #69. Its best chart position was #3 in Sweden! We love it and think it must be all those album sales messing with it, haha. You know it having huge opening numbers (one million a week) and being the best selling album of all time and all, hehe. British producer Louis La Roche has done a truly fresh remix for the Christmas party season. We're still having his amazing take on Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill on repeat so trust this new one will get some spins too right about now. We love the clean sound and the directness of it. The amped up the disco feel grabs you and won't let go, as it should be. Top marks!

Premiere: Solange - Cash In

It's the year of Solange, okrrr! Since late last year we've had her amazing True EP on repeat and yeah done the Losing You dance many a times. She's started her own record label, Saint Records, and curated its first annual compilation album, Saint Heron. Closing off the handpicked goodness is a brand new Knowles track, Cash In. Subtle and playing with some dissonance it makes us officially antsy for a brand new Solange album. We love the understated way she sings and reminds us a bit of Erykah Badu actually. Listen below and perhaps crank up True when you're done!

Video Premiere: Lily Allen - Hard Out Here

....aaaand the world can breathe a sigh of relief. Lily Allen is back with a new witty and sarcastic single. Say hello to Hard Out Here, the lead to her upcoming 2014 album! Her last offering album wise was It's Not Me, It's You released in February 2009, so the new one is 5 years in the making. We really like the patented Allen humour, and we guess the best way of show how nutz something is, is to actually show it. However, we'd have loved if Lily actually had presented some options. The way the video plays is like a real rap video filled with twerking gals and popping champagne bottles. So she kinda buys into that, whilst at the very same time poking fun of it. Aphex Twin did that 14 years ago with Windowlicker. Just sayin'! The idea of the music biz being filled with executives making sure girls know their twerk game is hilarious, haha. He could perhaps have shaked his booty some more?! The song is filled with those types of sounds as made popular by people like Ke$ha and the likes, complete with auto tune and all. It's mad catchy and the chorus with its "it's hard out here for a bitch" we'll be singing all week now, haha. 'ave a look below! Thoughts?

Premiere: Mariah Carey - The Art of Letting Go

Wow, Mariah Carey gets all heavy duty on her new single The Art of Letting Go. When we saw the single artwork a few weeks ago we didn't know what to expect. Club banger? Soulful ballad? Well, the opening is a vinyl record crackle and a voice cracking slightly at the edges. Powerful! The drama builds with the strings and the simplicity and rawness is startling. This is an MC production with the help of 90's R&B hero Rodney Jerkins after all! We like the blues feeling of the overall vibe. The choir kicks in, Mariah starts to really belt (of course) and you can her the pain in her voice. This track, from a first few spins, is not a huge single like We Belong Together, but it's refreshing to hear a new sound from her. Listen below! This single also serves as the title track to her album released sometime next year.
