Antony and the Johnsons - Angel of Fire (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire OST)

The wonderful Antony and the Johnsons are the album closer on the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Angel of Fire is a dramatic and heavenly song that soars and stirs emotions like you'd expect. Written by Antony Hegarty in 1992 already, the backing track for the song is in parts from a recording once used for NYC club performances. This eclectic approach suits his artistry and how lovely to get a peek inside the vault and at the same time get a superb song out of it. Say Lou Lou's gorgeous and emotive dream pop power ballad Beloved gets a fresh remix by Gothenburg duo Tiedye. Listening we're getting some intense unpleasant dissonance right at the beginning. Like a relationship heading for a fall and not getting up. Then the bassline kicks in and slowly but surely there'll be dancing again. Premiere: Neneh Cherry - Blank Project

On February 25th '14 Neneh Cherry will release Blank Project, her first solo record in 16 years. Produced by post-punker Kieran Hebden a.k.a Four Tet the whole album (10 tracks) was recorded and mixed down in just 5 days. Also worth mentioning is that a certain Robyn Carlsson will be featured on a track called Out of The Black! The first taster is the title track, an eclectic and organic sounding song miles away from the sleek Buffalo Stance. Neneh's voice is raw over a sparse and dark beat. Those drums and bass hides a lot of pain and sadness while at the same time invite your body to find its primordial rhythm and just let it all out. The album is written to work through a personal tragedy and the evidence shows in this track. Sounding like a beat poet we're getting snippets from a family situation.
