It fits right into the Del Rey universe and seems more than fitting as the lead single for the movie. Heavy on the drama and strings, it tugs at our inner core. Lana Del Rey has covered legendary Leonard Cohen's classic Chelsea Hotel #2 for the upcoming The Great Gatsby movie. Words pretty much fails us as this is massive, haha, we're a huge Lana and Cohen fan! She's managed to infuse the track with her distinct style without losing the 1974 original's raw life realness in the plot. Originally about Cohen's brief relationship with Janis Joplin, something he deeply regrets telling the world so intimately about. We love that Lana kept all the lyrcis intact as it gives the song a new dimension. Like Janis herself was singing it as a response. The Ant Shurmer/Spring69 directed video is classic Lana, simplistic and retro Super 8 film. Watch below!
