Video Premiere: Lykke Li - Love Me Like I'm Not Made Of Stone
Instead of coming out guns blazing like 3,5 years ago - Lykke Li wears her heart on her sleeve when kicking off her new era. Love Me Like I'm Not Made Of Stone is raw and painful to say the least. Brutally honest and comes after Lykke had a horrible breakup in her personal life. The whole album I Never Learn is out May 5th and is promised to be filled with just power ballads. If by power ballad Li means knocking the wind out of us leaving us breathless and heartbroken she's hit the nail on the head. The Tarik Saleh directed video is a treatment of piercing minimalistic pain. It's actually painful to watch the sadness in her eyes and hearing the song.
A devil's hand across my heart, as we dance through the dark. Go ahead, go ahead, love me deep, until you can't...
Says Lykke: I wrote No Rest for the Wicked in Sweden when I was packing up my shit, and I’d just gotten out of a relationship and it was a horrible time. I just had the hurt, shame, sadness, guilt, longing. In the verse, I’m referring to myself pleading guilty but I’m referring to all of us.
She's produced the album herself with longtime co-producer Björn Yttling and now also L.A mastermind Greg Kurstin. This album marks the end of the trilogy that started with her amazing 2008 debut Youth Novels and 2011's flawless follow up Wounded Rhymes.
