Premiere: Lorde - Yellow Flicker Beat (From The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 OST)

Lorde has been busy curating the entire soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and here's the first taster! Yellow Flicker Beat is exactly that. The intro aches and slow burns, the flicker kicking into a hard hitting beat with the nervous undertone being a constant companion. Vocally it's a stunning track - very Lorde! Dark, haunting and restrained with some soaring parts. Holding back what sounds like a threat, and we're hypnotized by it. Listen below! Thoughts?

Premiere: Lykke Li - No One Ever Loved (The Fault in Our Stars OST)

Everything is coming up Lykke Li at the moment and we love it! No One Ever Loved is a brand new song for The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack - but can also be regarded as the "missing" 10th track on her superb new album I Never Learn. Playing like a long lost love letter to a first love we're getting shivers listening. The lonesome steel guitar bleeding, the piano weeping, Lykke sounding raw and singing straight from her solar plexus. It's a diamond, and dare we say - not in any gutter. Dare, however, to click the play icon below! Also, check out Charli XCX from the same OST here!

Premiere: Ellie Goulding - Beating Heart (Divergent OST)

Ellie Goulding is riding high on her Halcyon Days #1 success on the UK album charts earlier this year. Brand new track Beating Heart serves as the soundtrack to the emotional last scene of upcoming dystopian summer blockbuster Divergent starring Kate Winslet, Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. The soft intro is really soothing and opens up for the rush of the soaring chorus. It reminds a bit of Lights and that ain't all bad right?! On the minus side we have to mention the dated autotune effect in parts of the song - WTF, stop that! So tiresome, haha, especially if you like someone's voice for real. Listen, listen! Thoughts?

Premiere: Lana Del Rey - Once Upon A Dream (Maleficent OST)

Lana Del Rey was handpicked by Angelina Jolie to cover the Sleeping Beauty 1958 classic Once Upon a Dream. This obviously for the big Disney/Jolie movie Maleficent which opens on May 30th. Where the original is bright and airy Lana's take is dark and regal speaking of mysteries in a dark forest. Like a long-lost vinyl player that keeps playing the same old 7" single powered by some strange force. Walt Disney in the land of Twin Peaks... It feels like a major single in her spectacular discography and we couldn't be happier. Enjoy! Thoughts? Update: Here's the extended 90 sec trailer which aired during The Grammy's last night. Wow!

Premiere: Charlotte Gainsbourg - Hey Joe

Charlotte Gainsbourg stars as Joe with Shia LaBeouf among others in Lars von Trier's much hyped two-part movie Nymphomaniac. An edited standalone version will hit Danish theaters on December 25th. Much to do with the hype is the fact that von Trier has digitally composed porn actors genitals in full on sex mode on all the actors, thus creating scenes containing non simulated acts. Clever! (And we'd say that is a hybrid of animation.) For the soundtrack Charlotte has recorded, with her longtime producer Beck, a cover of the absolute classic Hey Joe. The song was made famous by The Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1966/1967 as their debut single and is now a rock standard for sure. We love this new version and the sultry, whispering vocals add an eeriness moreso than sexiness which is scary and great. The rock production compliments and highlights the dissonance between the lyrics and delivery making it a well worth add to what we think will be quite an experience at the cinema soon. Watch the movie trailer here! Thoughts?
