Madonna - Borderline (Stripped Down Acoustic Mix)

Now, normally we're all for a deep bass situation. That doesn't mean we can't make exceptions, haha. One of Madonna's earliest signature songs is of course Borderline. Written and produced by Reggie Lucas in 1982 for her debut album M was unhappy with the result. She thought it had too many instruments on it and had her then boyfriend Jellybean remix it. How perfect then we came across this baby since July '13 marks 30 years since it was released. This stripped down take uses the original stems and really showcases how amazing this song really is. Yes, the production, artwork, iconic video adds to it, but the core structure is fantastic; the chords, lead vocals and backing harmonies. So simple and effective. Love to hear it like this! Thoughts?

Video Premiere: Annie - Back Together

....and just like that, Annie releases one of the best videos of her career. The infectious Back Together is taken from her brand new EP with Richard X, the A&R EP, and the aesthetics fits the 8-bit sound card perfectly. We're wild for the early 90's vibes of a video coundown show (remember those!!!) along with a mimed studio appearance on a recorded music show in the 80's. Only one problem though - Mannie would never be sliding down the charts with Invisible, that's for sure! Enjoy!

Free Download: Erykah Badu - On & On (Booty Fade Remix)

Erykah Badu's 1997 debut single On & On is part of our life soundtrack since the first listen 16 years ago and for good reason. That incredible voice, how she phrases, the lyrics and beat, (that bass!) plus the nu jazz feel of it all. Glorious! Well in fact her whole Baduizm album was and still is one great high musically and spiritually speaking! Fellow Dallas residents Booty Fade are hopefully working with Erykah on a new album and decided to do a 180 remix and we love it! The updated vibe is so chill and the synths shimmers in a dusky night sky. The amazing vocals are kept intact with some added chops and echoes here and there. The end result is perfect and god dammit imma sing my song. I think I need a cup of tea. Cannot wait to hear any new songs from a Booty Badu session!

Introducing: A-Minor - Thinking Bout The Things

We've spent the weekend in 30+ C degree heat (90 F) and it's been awesome. A refreshing cool night and icy cold drinks is however in much need. How amazing then we can introduce London act A-Minor and debut Thinking Bout The Things. As in talk about refreshing! This nu-disco vibe is just what we need tonight for sure; infectious groove from the very getgo, sleek vocal loop and bass for days. People like Disclosure, AlunaGeorge and Duke Dumont have really put this sound on the map again so here's hoping this baby will stay around even when the weather cools off. Enjoy!

Free Download: MS MR - Hurricane (Oyster Records Remix)

MS MR already know a thing or three about creating brooding songs and finding visuals to match. However, their already perfect debut Hurricane finds a whole new shade of darkness here to utilize. French label Oyster Records has created a stunning bootleg that transforms the slight organic feel of the original into a steely electronic night of pulsating synths, thundering bass and a drum machine sent straight from hell as it's so sweet! The video edit rivals that of the original clip as it's a tumblr extravaganza filled with perfect imagery for the badass beat. Enjoy! For the .mp3, go grab it here!
