We are having no problems for sure putting our Phone Down for Erykah Badu. What a treat having new material from her! Last month she dropped a cover of Drake's Hotline Bling and here's a stripped down and awesome follow up! She's set to release the mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone on Thanksgiving and we cannot even contain outslves. YES! Lovin' this stripped to the bones production and laidback 'tude. It's mellow and glows with a muted light plus it's contemporary but still brings that Badu vibe. ENJOY! Thoughts?

Erykah Badu 4-ever, honestly. And we'll always have a very special place in our heart for her 1996 landmark album Baduizm. Apple Tree, remixed here by Brazilian DJ Guilherme Aranda Kock, was the third and final single - released only in Europe. We've always liked the insightful humour of the lyrcis paired with that mellow music. This bootleg amps things up a bit and imagine Erykah dancing to this with her artsy friends way back in 1996 on a warm summer night - cool! Grab it belooow and enjoooy!

Erykah Badu's incredible 1997 debut single On & On surely is one of the best to ever launch a career in music. It's awesome, insightful, unique and thought-provoking. We've loooved it since the very first time we heard it. The original production is one for the ages and we're crazy for the restraint and subtle emotional charges in it. Norwegian Diskobeistet amps up the mood and even throws in some *tropical* flavours in there. N i c e! That new bassline sends us straight into party mode on a slow Sunday night. Top notch! It feels like a brand new track almost - imagine Erykah's vox on an original house track - we'd be soaring! Enjoy the dl below! 

Full Album Stream: Janelle Monáe - The Electric Lady

The booty don't lie! We're blown away by Janelle Monáe's The Electric Lady album from the very first listen. It's brilliant and definitely a contender for album of the year. Her gleaming collaborations with Erykah Badu and Miguel sound even better here and the extended version of the latter we adore. Janelle infuses her second album with soul, R&B, Motown, Jimi Hendrix vibes, disco and classic 70's film scores. It's sounds cohesive despite all the references and the over all production is outstanding. Big Boi and Sean Combs act both as executive producers and they're holding this album together beautifully. We love the radio interludes and the humour they bring to the project. Prince and his guitar solo kick start the album on Givin' Em What They Love and Solange lifts the title track to gloruous heights with her amazing voice and that horn section makes us wanna d.a.n.c.e! Album closer What An Experience is just so tender and makes us want to hit repeat instantly. Top marks! The whole album is booty drop amazing and when it's out on September 10th we're picking it up first thing. Listen to the full stream below! Thoughts?
