Goldfrapp did an intimate one-off show at the Trinity Centre in Bristol last night as a warm-up for their upcoming album Tales of Us and new tour. These amazing HQ fan videos show a very effortless and organic show staying true to the album versions. No new songs online as of yet so we'll have to wait. Good to hear the old classic sound though! Our beloved Goldfrapp made the huge announcement just over an hour ago that come 9th of September they'll release the brand new album Tales of Us. Here's the official album trailer and it's safe to say we're in for a brand new era! Last time around in 2010 it was disco, lasers and neon jumpsuits! This seems to be a more introspective collection of songs, in the vein of 2008's acoustic Seventh Tree and 2000's debut Felt Mountain. Music that travels to the inner core. The visuals are truly stunning too. So dark and moody! There will be a brand new single out next month so we'll keep you posted! In the meantime you can revisit our 2010 review of their Head First tour here! Oh, and the track list was just released here!

We were thinking just a few hours ago that it'd be so good with some new Goldfrapp material. When waiting for that what better than hearing their awesome Rocket mashed with some sexy Rod Stewart? Alison's voice is perfect for the classic Da Ya Think I'm Sexy - 1978's disco porno groove anthem! Break out the leotards and leather jackets and bring it on!

One of the most important artists in the world of music as we know it died today. Donna Summer died of cancer at the age of 63. Much too soon. Such a super sad day for us music lovers. Without a doubt the work she did with Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte was forever game changing and pushed any boundaries out of the way for good. Love To Love You Baby with its 15 min of pure pleasure, the electronic masterpiece I Feel Love and iconic heartache song On The Radio to name but a few. We can honestly say we listen to I Feel Love on a weekly basis and can never ever get enough. Like never - ever. Those vocals - that sickening beat. Argh! A lot can be said about Donna's career, but instead of going on and on - we remembered we had this awesome radio documentary from BBC Radio 2 narrated by Alison Goldfrapp - with frickin' Giorgio himself and sound bites from Ana Matronic, Jimmy Somerville and Debbie Harry. Fascinating stuff! We're listening tonight and remembering the amazing legacy Donna has left behind. Rest in peace, dear Donna.

So beautiful. When we first heard the studio version of Melancholy Sky, the first thing we thought of was its cinematic qualities. Now that Alison and Will have uploaded an instrumental version of it, we so want this to be the soundtrack of a great epic movie. We're so into the use of all the different instruments and the glorious instrumentation. Goldfrapp at their finest!
