Free Download: Björk - Notget (ill-ēsha Edit/Remix)

We're truly transfixed by Björk's Vulnicura album era. It's so sad and beautiful and defiant and gorgeous all wrapped up with a black bow. The new word Notget alone makes us shiver with both joy and pain. The removal of the space between the words - amazing. Denver based producer ill-ēsha takes the original mix and drops her own beat on it in the space between a remix and a re-edit. It allows the sun to shine a bit on the darkness which is something we all need sometimes. We have the official remix from Lotic to turn to if we need some fragmented sorrow again. Enjoy below!

Video Premiere: Björk - Lionsong

Björk released the video to Lionsong as a surprise tonight and yeap it's classic Guðmundsdóttir realness paired with visual input by Inez & Vinoodh + fashionz by Maiko Takeda. All in all - it's badass and awesome. Based around the Vulnicura album cover it's a display of hope and sorrow, sadness and laughter. Waiting for a loved one to make up his mind and not really knowing what outcome you'd prefer - just wanting to find out. The visual treatment of this tough topic is really striking and we love how otherwordly meets a very raw human waiting and feeling. Oh Björk, you really know how to make us weak at the knees!

Björk - Stonemilker - Live at Carnegie Hall (March 7th 2015)

Björk, to us, has reached a whole new platform in her artistry with the deeply personal Vulnicura album. To share recent and utter heartbreak this openly and not beat around the bush but instead tell it like it is and feels deserves major respect. Yesterday at noon she live premiered the whole album (bar Atom Dance) at Carnegie Hall. This legendary NYC venue has hosted some of the biggest names in the arts and feels perfect for this. Big yet intimate somehow. We adore album opener and now concert opener Stonemilker as it is - but to see it live seems unreal just by this fan footage (brilliant btw) alone. We looove the simplistic stage and how the string section are right behind her and how Maiko Takeda's headpiece is back and acts like body armor for this battle with emotions on a world stage. Not forgetting to mention the patented Björk dance - wonderful! ENJOY! Pic via NY Times

Premiere: Björk - Notget (Lotic Remix)

It's crazy how you can go from missing someone in the best way possible to have the longing shift into severe pain. Björk's Vulnicura album is an odyssey into major heartache and devastation and has truly transfixed us. Thus it's more than fitting that the first official remix is a piercing treatment of Notget by Berlin based Lotic. (His name meaning flowing water, how extra perfect here.) It comes with sharp edges and makes for an uncomfortable listen. It's fragmented and direct, it makes us want to cry and the poetry of the lyrics paired with the slithering beat is really striking. The softer elements in the original are swept away with the sadness and the tide. Listen below! Thoughts?

Stream: Björk - BBC Radio 1 Zane Lowe Feature Interview

We might as well rename the blog Björk Says Relax for the next few months, haha. It's gonna be packed with Vulnicura album treats we hope! The album leak and the subsequent rushed official release last week, two months earlier than planned, had fans screaming from both fear and joy. Tonight, just a few hours ago, B chatted with BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe about the whole process and what's gonna happen in the near future. Tour! She's so cool! We must say the album has us floored. It's so amazingly good and the raw tone is palpable. It's so intimate it feels like listening to someone's soul. Reverence is the word to describe what we feel when listening. Interview below + album here!
