Oh Land - Renaissance Girls (Nick Zinner Remix)

Oh Land drops her second album Wish Bone on September 24th and she's heading out on a headlining US tour at the exact same time. Nice! Lead single Renaissance Girls gets some major pull by Yeah Yeah Yeah's Nick Zinner. He takes the somewhat busy and eclectic original production and polishes it with the YYY magic he possesses. Have a listen beloooow! Love the majestic tempo of the remix for sure! Alsooo, Oh's totally awesome album artwork reminds us of the classic and iconic Jean-Paul Goude sleeve for Grace Jones's Island Life 1985 compilation album. Real nice reference!

Rising UK producer and artist Youan just kicked his gear into super drive with the excellent When You're Around! If this track was an apple pie we'd have this to say about its flavour profile; love the tartness and depth of flavour, the sugar and cinnamon are wonderfully balanced with a hint of sea salt. Meaning, we have it on repeat and it's both airy and light with a serious bite to it. Love it! And is that the Darkchild we hear murmuring in the background?! Tune! Flatline by Mutya Keisha Siobhan and produced by Dev Hynes is already one of the year's best singles. NOW comes this bangin' and delicious garage remix by MNEK. The added groove is exceptional and the added choir be on point. Actually it reminds us a lot of Mariah's fantastic house remix run in the 90's. Plus the girlz lead voices really get to shine! Love that instead of subtracting or chopping the vocals we're getting more goodies for our minutes worth. Enjoy!   

Free Download: Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner (Thon Soriedem Remix)

Suzanne Vega hasn't released a new album since 2007 and we so want new material. We've been listening loads to her lately and we're craving some new songs, she's so incredibly talented. How awesome then to come across this brand new deep house remix of her classic 1986 spoken word hit Tom's Diner by Brazilian DJ Thon Soriedem. The new bassline and strings are so amazing! Talk about addictive! The stellar DNA remix from 1990 just got a new companion to hang out with! Some fun facts about this song is that the real Tom's Diner was later fictionalized in Seinfeld as the hangout Monk's Cafe. PLUS - and this major - it's also called the 'mother of the mp3' as Karlheinz Brandenburg, one of the contibutors to the mp3 creation, used the original version of Suzanne's acapella to make sure the compression was working. Free Download: Tori Amos - Father Lucifer (King Britt's Sylkscreen Remix)

We've dived deep down in the infinite pool that is the world of 90's music lately. One song we cannot stop listening to is the King Britt remix of Tori Amos' amazing Father Lucifer. We're hypnotized in fact! The original can be found on her iconic 1996 album Boys For Pele, with the remix used as a b-side to the vinyl release of Jackie's Strength in 1998. The original's almost jaunty feeling is replaced with a more subdued atmosphere that swirls around us like black smoke. Tori lyrcis are always so poetic and surrounded with mystery, this just adds to the glory. Truly amazing and how wonderful to be able to share this hidden gem like this. Enjoy!
