Premiere: Seinabo Sey - Rather Be (Clean Bandit Cover)

Amazing Seinabo Sey just released her debut EP For Madeleine (dedicated to her mother, yes, Madeleine) and continues her epic rise as the voice of a generation. Exactly how stunningly superb she is and what depth her voice really has is on display right here if there ever was doubt (no there wasn't). Seinabo has taken Clean Bandit's awesome UK #1 monster hit Rather Be and turned its classical and 90's house sound into a tender torch song. The original is the fastest selling single in the UK this year and no wonder - it's perfect. But this acoustic version makes the sentiment of the song really shine with a gorgeous muted light. It makes us happy and want to cry all at once and isn't that really what you want from music; the stirring of emotions and what that brings forward? Damn, this is absolute perfection. Can you even imagine what her debut album will do to us?! Be prepared to hit repeat below! Enjoy!

Premiere: Aretha Franklin - Rolling In The Deep (Adele Cover)

Imagine writing a song about a crazy breakup you had at 20 y.o and a few years later Aretha Franklin releases that very same song as a lead single. Well that's exactly what's happened to Adele and her contemporary evergreen Rolling In The Deep. The original video has over half a billion views (!) and we have a feelin' there's gonna be a renewed interest right about now. Aretha will release her ...Sings The Great Diva Classics on October 21st and we sure hope there's gonna be some behind the scenes footage of her singing this one. Just hearing her use the word shit in a song, haha. Git it Aretha! She takes it to church for sure and it's a real treat hearing her iconic vocals take on contemporary material. Remember when she sang the underwear off Mariah Carey's Touch My Body a few years back?! Sure, we'd loved if her voice wasn't so manipulated and was kept a bit more raw + not sure how they came up with mixing in Ain't No Mountain High Enough - that's kind of the antithesis to Adele's firey rage. More anger and less flat production... Anyway...welcome back Ms. Franklin!

Free Download: BANKS - Are You That Somebody? (Aaliyah Cover) [Lincoln Flip]

BANKS goddess goodness keeps on comin' and we ain't complaining! This time it's a bootleg mix of her stunning BBC live cover of Aaliyah's Timbaland produced 1998 masterpiece Are You That Somebody?. San Diego based producer Lincoln takes the acoustic cover and builds on it with a super hot and hard synth and added drums. It's really awesome and adds a whole new dark dimension to her vocals. No sampled baby laughter like in the original of course, but still comes closer to it while bringing something fresh to the mix. It's hot, tight and showcases Jillian Banks' crazy good voice and serves as a reminder how cool the original really is. Love it!

Premiere: Annie Lennox - I Put a Spell on You (Screamin' Jay Hawkins Cover)

AMAZING Annie Lennox is back with a brand new album filled to the brim with covers of legendary songs! Hell yeah! Nostalgia is recorded to fit a classic vinyl album standard and will have its premiere on said format as early as September 30th! Other outlets October 27th. Lead single I Put a Spell on You is a cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' 1956 utter classic. It's perfect for Annie's emotive and deep voice. Her nuances are crazy and her version is so raw and tempting. While it's hard to match the original's hollering and ghoul shouts without becoming a parody this matches the deep despair and willingness to do anything to control a unfaithful lover. Alsooo, Nina Simone's legendary version is NOT TO BE MISSED. Play all three back to back and enjoooy! Spotify stream if ya need and album trailer if ya fancy (you do)! Thoughts?

Premiere: Lauren Flax Feat. Kim Ann Foxman - Pleasure Principle (Janet Jackson Cover)

Hell yes! Lauren Flax and Kim Ann Foxman takes on Janet Jackson's classic 1987 single The Pleasure Principle from the Control album and infuses with their deep house magical goodness! Too nice! Sigmund Freud's 1920's psychology term set to a contemporary dance beat we fully stand (well, dance) behind. And the powah of JJ naturally! The production is airy and tight plus incredibly addicitive - we're instantly hooked! As a bonus we get a KAF remix that adds an ever deeper groove plus a free download of the bangin' Eli Escobar treatment. Very awesome indeed. Happy weekend!
