Free Download: Eurythmics - Love Is a Stranger (Crome Remix)

The 1982 Eurythmics single Love Is a Stranger is, to us, is a true display in excellence. The lyrics read like poetry, the music is restrained yet airy and melodic, the production (at the time) is new meets classical. The video is equally superb with its claustrophobic feel and amazing play with different characters. Annie Lennox vocals are simply perfection and her storytelling is out of this world (as always). Shockingly it didn't fare so well on the charts - reaching #54 in their native UK. However, a re-release hit #6 after their next single Sweet Dream (Are Made of This) became a world smash in 1983. German DJ Crome builds on the original production and we're wild for the extended intro (so classic 12"!) and powerful groove with that deeper bassline! Damn hot! Go grab it below and shake your money maker all night. Enjoy! PS. A lil' side note is that the song recording was a self-financed affair at Annie and Dave's 8-track studio in Chalk Farm, London. Too cool!   

Premiere: Annie Lennox - I Put a Spell on You (Screamin' Jay Hawkins Cover)

AMAZING Annie Lennox is back with a brand new album filled to the brim with covers of legendary songs! Hell yeah! Nostalgia is recorded to fit a classic vinyl album standard and will have its premiere on said format as early as September 30th! Other outlets October 27th. Lead single I Put a Spell on You is a cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' 1956 utter classic. It's perfect for Annie's emotive and deep voice. Her nuances are crazy and her version is so raw and tempting. While it's hard to match the original's hollering and ghoul shouts without becoming a parody this matches the deep despair and willingness to do anything to control a unfaithful lover. Annie Lennox - Universal Child - New Single

Overall godess Annie Lennox drops her Christmas album A Christmas Cornucopia on November 15th. The first single is called Universal Child, and all proceeds from the sales will go to her foundations work    bringing awareness to the work against HIV/AIDS. The cornucopia is a symbol of food and abundance dating back to the 5th century BC, also referred to as the food of worship and holiness. So many of us on this planet don't have enough food, clean water, sanitation and medicines. Something to think about always and especially around the holidays when people tend to stress and over buy.

Dolce&Gabbana Men Summer 2011 Full Fashion Show

Dolce&Gabbana presented their Sicilian Sensuality Summertime collection for summer 2011 during Milan Fashion Week today. Linen and raw hemp woven like baskets. Extra light, washed and rubbed-down cotton. Sandblasted denim. Sweaters in jute or in interwoven jute and leather. Extra light silk sweaters. String or leather sandals like those worn by Sicilian fishermen. Interwoven leather bags that take inspiration from those used by the farmers in the South of Italy. Annie Lennox sang live during the entire show and we're not sure what we think. We love her, but her voice sounded strange, and it would have been a lot more fun with some other music for sure. Little Boots - No More I Love You's

The lovely Little Boots performed during an Annie Lennox tribute concert last week. And she just uploaded her rehearsal video of No More I Love You's and writes:

here is a song i filmed when i was practising for my performance at the annie lennox tribute evening last week for the red cross, it was an amazing night and i have never been so scared of performing acoustically in my life as annie was sat right in front of me and is such an idol of mine, plus the song is incredibly high and so hard to sing! she does it so well... anyway i nearly bottled it but did it in the end and was really glad, annie gave me a big hug afterwards and was a great night all her work for red cross is truly inspirational.
