54th Grammy Award Performances

This year's Grammy Awards was all about Adele! She brought home six Grammy's, tying Beyoncé for the most awards won by a female artist in one night. Adele won for Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for 21, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Short Form Music Video for Rolling In The Deep, and Best Pop Solo Performance for Someone Like You. Incredible and not at all surprising! Whitney's death the night before saw Jennifer Hudson sing I Will Always Love You. Also, Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt celebrated Etta James with A Sunday Kind of Love. Plus Adele's first performance post surgery om her vocal chords. Check out all the performances last night. Nicki Minaj was hilarious!

Whitney Houston 1963-2012

Music is such a powerful force. It can bring the most diverse group of people together, and for the last 30 years Whitney Houston has been front and center. No matter what situation there is always one Whitney song that fits the moment. And herself as a performer surpassed her own material. Judging by our friends and family's comments and our social media feed she had admirers in every corner in every way imaginable. From our own mom to the toughest punk rocker anarchist, to the local gospel choir - Whitney joined us together through her amazing talent. Play I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) and your heart melts and your feet start to move instantly. We saw the breaking story that Whitney was declared dead and were shocked beyond belief. Even though it was obvious she had been on a dangerous path for a long time we hoped that she somehow would pull through the darkness. Addiction and its destruction is beyond tragic regardless of who you are and Whitney is the ultimate proof. What a huge loss for music lovers. We have the back catalogue to lean against, we just wish Whitney herself was around to just rest, do some gardening and have big cups of green tea for the antioxidants. Whitney, you will be dearly missed. Your love is our love, and our love is your love.

Loleatta Holloway - We're Getting Stronger (DJ MeMe Director's Cut Mashup)

The world lost Loleatta Holloway earlier this year, and the music scene is an emptier place without her. You may know that Whitney Houston's Million Dollar Bill extensivley samples Loleatta's 1976 hit We're Getting Stronger, and now it's payback time. Portugese DJ MeMe was given an instrumental of Frankie Knuckles himself of his remix of Whitney's track. And MeMe then mashed that with Loleatta's original vocals. Makes sense yeah? And the result is to be found below! Further down is the '76 original just in case you haven't heard it, or wanna revisit. Enjoy!

Who Run This Mutha?! - New Mixtape - Free Download!

WTH and WTF! We are appalled at the fact that Beyoncé is the first woman in 20 years to headline Glastonbury. We had a look online and in 1989 Suzanne Vega did and in 1990 Sinéad O'Connor did. In 1999 Skunk Anansie headlined fronted by Skin, so that counts to some extent. But no solo act since frickin' 1990! We remember Kylie was supposed to in 2005, but had to cancel due to breast cancer. This feels insane! We can think of numerous women since the 80's who should've had the chance. A friend of ours is a singer/songwriter and she told us just a few months ago that a festival promoter actually turned her down due to the fact that she is well, a woman. NUTS! Below is a mixtape filled with much talented women that we pulled out of the vault from 2009 and touched up a bit. Download, listen and remember that everyone needs to be treated equally! We do realize that the people reading this knows this already, but sadly this cannot be stressed enough it seems.
