Whitney Houston's 1998 album My Love Is Your Love is easily our favourite from her catalogue. Recorded quite quickly over 6 weeks it sounded (and still does) mad contemporary, funky, amazingly diverse and effortless. Love! Its crowning glory, for us, is the stellar super diss It's Not Right but It's Okay. Whitney's insanely perfect vocals, which earned her a Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, paired with the tight and easily recognizable Darkchild production from Rodney Jerkins is a dream. Now, Austin based amazing producer Bird Peterson has put a new spin on it and takes the track down a darker route. This new take is more sinister and brooding for sure. The bassline rumbles and really shakes the sentiment of those iconic vocals up! We would not want to be that cheating rat, that's for sure! Stream below, download here! 

CHVRCHES - It's Not Right But It's Okay (Whitney Houston Cover)

Glasgow synthpop trio CHVRCHES take on Whitney Houston's power vocals and Rodney Jerkins legendary production on their cover of 1998 masterpiece It's Not Right But It's Okay. It's totally left field and we love it + and this is a big +, we finally have a chance to actually be able to sing along to this baby. :D OK, so it's not as powerful as the original but it certainly is sweet and the dirty live arrangement for BBC's Radio 1 will make for a perfect tour staple come fall. Whitney Houston's last ever recorded song Celebrate is the first single from the upcoming film musical Sparkle. Whitney sings duet with her on-screen daughter Jordin Sparks and it's a cute retro tinged bouncy track. Sadness all around as Whitney sounds focused. We're sure she had an amazing jazz album in her. RIP. Thoughts?

Whitney Houston VS Avicii - I Wanna Level With Somebody - Free Download

So much has happened since we posted that Whitney Houston vs Robyn mashup last month. It still feels unbelievable and unreal that Whitney died last weekend. When we found this one it felt like the perfect tribute. I Wanna Level With Somebody sees Sydney DJ's Doppelbänger team Whitney's classic with Avicii's monster hit Levels which won a Swedish Grammy this week for Song Of The Year. + it features a sample from Etta James who died a month ago. A lot of sadness, but also proof that somehow life carries on. We might miss these ladies a lot, but their legacy lives on in different shapes and forms.
