Premiere: Sophie Ellis-Bextor - True Faith (New Order Cover)

New Order's brilliant 1987 single and video True Faith are iconic pieces of music and visuals. There's joy and darkness intertwined and under the goofy and catchy surface lies painful truths about hard drug dependency. Bernard Sumner's voice is truly magical and the way he delivers the lyrics with such an icy cool is beyond good. That brings us to another singer famed for her coolness. Sophie Ellis-Bextor covers this classic for the album project Sound of the 80's and we can see this becoming a live favourite by her fans. The amazing bassline really hits home and imagine this rumble away at a large venue with those strings coming in. It's hard to cover perfection, but SE-B gives it a good try at least! Listen below! Thoughts?

Diana Ross VS. New Order - Upside Down n' Round & Round - Free Download

Just imagine if Diana Ross and New Order had collaborated in the 80's! Thankfully we have this mash up to at least get a hint what it could have been like. The distress in Diana's voice when Upside Down gets twisted into the New Order's Round & Round realm is interesting. Literally getting turned 180 degrees from the warmth of the original. Have a listen belooow!

Synth Britannia - A Sunday Documentary

If you like us love electronic music, documentaries and digging for the origins of various things today's Sunday documentary will float your boat for sure! In 90 min this BBC doc goes through our iTunes and gives wonderful insights to the birth of what nowadays is an absolute staple. How amazing to get one document that tracks the roots and timeline it all. Those early synthesizers and hardly any sequencers. Love it! All our heroes are here - Kraftwerk, The Human League, Gary Numan, New Order, Depeche Mode, Yazoo & The Pet Shop Boys! Wow. We could go on and on, so hit that play icon! Enjoy!

George Michael - True Faith (New Order Cover)

Making our ears bleed. That sentence pretty much sums up GM's cover of the fantastic True Faith by New Order. We were in disbelief when we heard that he was gonna do it, and now we are so so so sad. One of the greatest voices ever - muddled and drowning in auto tune, a horrible jazzy backing track + and a crap video with animated smoke that dances and eventually ends up in George Michael's mouth. Eh? Click here for the awesome original!
