Video Premiere: John Grant Feat. Tracey Thorn - Disappointing

Honestly, we could listen all day to the voices of amazing John Grant and Tracey Thorn, and here they are together! The only thing Disappointing us is that TT isn't in the actual video. She'd be badass in the gym, and why not in the sauna. Love that the song is a flip of Cole Porter's evergreen You're The Top. We're crazy 'bout the organic production with some hot electronic elements and the vocal takes are just pure excellence. PLUS they have amazing taste in what's disappointing them on top of it all. Enjoy!

Premiere: Tracey Thorn - Follow Me Down (The Falling OST)

We're not one bit surprised that when Tracey Thorn creates a soundtrack the film gets rave five star reviews. This as who would even dare to pitch a bad movie idea to TT in the first place?! Unfathomable, haha. So here we are. Follow Me Down sets the tone to Carol Morley's debut feature film about an all girls school in the 1960's. The whole OST is a 17 minute EP filled with moods, sketches and atmospheres over eight different tracks. Love the experimental feel, airy piano and somber mood of this lead track. And how this whole project was done in Tracey's home - with her playing everything allowing herself one take only on each of the instruments. She's too cool for school for sure - even a fictious 1960's one! LOVE her!

Free Download: Everything But The Girl - Wrong (Pherotone Remix)

Everything But The Girl's amazing '96 album Walking Wounded is easily one of the most played in our collection. It's flawless, packs a big emotional punch and has stood the test of time like no other. Both the album version and Todd Terry remix of Wrong still get a lot of plays here regularly. There's something irresistible about the wistful tone and club beat paired with Tracey Thorn's stellar vocals. Turkey based producer Pherotone does a 180 and infuses his bootleg remix with tranquility and peace. It's bright and utterly lovely and acctually reminds some of EBTG's day pre becoming darlings of the club world in 1995. Too good this is! Enjoooy!

Premiere: Tracey Thorn - Under The Ivy (Kate Bush Cover)

Tracey Thorn has impeccable taste in music so no wonder that BBC Radio 4 asked her to be their guest editor. For this session, which aired last night, she's recorded Kate Bush's Under The Ivy, the b-side to Running Up That Hill, as a tribute. Her life partner Ben Watt is on piano and we get a new string arrangement written by famous conductor Nick Ingman, known for his work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and major Oscar winning films. Um, yes - impeccable taste it is, haha. Alsooo, this version is out as a single release today! We love the added warmth that Tracey's voice always brings, plus how this take is more subdued in true Thorn style. It really adds a new dimension to the original and what more can one ask really apart from a duet with Kate and Tracey from and center. Can you even imagine?! Read here what TT has to say about her cover and some thoughts about KB as an artist. Enjoy!

Free Download: Everything But The Girl - Missing (Electronika Remix)

Everything But The Girl's legedary 1994/1995 Missing super hit is truly one for the ages and comes with a fantastic backstory. The original acoustic mix was released in August ´94 as the second single from Amplified Heart and didn't create much buzz - the duo were already on shaky grounds with their label after not generating enough sales. In October '95 the now iconic Todd Terry remix saw the light of day, and around the same time EBTG were dropped by their Blanco Y Negro label. When the remix turned out to be a SMASH the label panicked as they had the rights to the song but not the duo anymore. And since it reached the top of most charts it made sure that Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt saw a massive surge in sales from all previous releases (8 studio albums) and found a whole new electronic sound and fan base. LOVE! Russian four piece production team Electronika has created a truly badass bootleg remix that sees the original sounds paired with irresistible new ones. The groove is so deep and infectious and sounds lovely with Tracey's wistful original vocals. The electronic elements are just stunning and sound amazingly well against the '94 and '95 productions. A true gem to find, and uploaded just one day ago! It's a win, win, win all the way + a free download. Enjoooooy!
