Premiere: Giorgio Moroder Feat. Kelis - Back & Forth

We love it when Kelis is in the mood to d.a.n.c.e! Her 2010 Flesh Tone album is legendary and so underrated. After the more organic touch on last year's Food album she returns to the club. With legendary Giorgio Moroder next to her Back & Forth sounds amazing. It harks back to a classic disco era but has its gaze firmly set on the future. Nice combo! That husky voice paired with those catchy guitar & synth riffs do things to us! Giorgio's 74 is the new 24 album looks set to be an absolute smash when released later this year. Enjoooy!  

Premiere: Kelis - Friday Fish Fry (Rob Garza Remix)

Hungry, ya'll? Kelis' Friday Fish Fry remix EP is out this week and has some great new beats on it. Our favourite of the bunch is when Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation adds a sleek club touch it. The version found on Kelis' excellent FOOD album is raw and organic filled with rich goodness. A lil' like a hearty stew of palpable emotions. This mix however dresses up and drops it low for cocktail hour. Love it! That rumbling bassline really whets our appetite!

Kelis' Food album era is a great one; we might be slightly biased being the foodie that we are, haha. And we love hootch too! Anyway, moving on, Rumble is a raw and major drama infused song without any ties to any food item. It's a domestic situation though! Sad as it may be... NYC based DJ M.O.S. turns the sharp edges into a smooth dessert style remix. It's a luxurious treat with a warm beat and sunny approach desipte the lyrical content. The dissonance is awesome, like a salted caramel or a ginger Crème brûlée. It wakes up your palate for sure and tastes perfect! Enjoooy!  

Premiere: Kelis - Been Given A Morning

Ten years and a month almost to the day after the instantly iconic Milkshake we get to experience a brand new side of usually rowdy Kelis. The tender Been Given A Morning is truly beautiful and her husky voice over the grand piano, strings and trumpet evokes a full on jazz lounge feel. Wow! The electronic dissonance two thirds in makes for interesting shock value. The soft, sweet and mellow sound is destroyed and we can't help to think that's sort of how life is sometimes. Her upcoming album is called F.O.O.D and is out mid February next year. Her last song from this project was Jerk Ribs so we're thinking the album's gonna have a foody theme?! Enjoy below! Thoughts? Dan Black Feat. Kelis - Hearts - Video Premiere

London's wonky pop maestro Dan Black has been working with Kelis for her upcoming album. Hearts was written with her in mind but Dan loved it so much he wanted to record it himself. The result is a duet that works really well for both! Win win! The video is a time-lapse feast shot on a goregous spring day in Paris. Since Kelis couldn't make it to the shoot she's integrated in a set of cards and it works so well. The song is a string driven electro pop number with a real awesome build up. Both voices complement each other and we're curious what the rest of this collaboration will sound like! Bring on both artist's album releases later this year!
