Free Download: Seinabo Sey - Younger (20syl Remix)

We've been bangin' on the last few weeks about new Swedish artist Seinabo Sey and her infectious and thought provoking debut single Younger. Now less than a week until xmas we're getting a tropical themed remix by French DJ Sylvain Richard a.k.a 20syl. It's like biting into a tasty orange for sure. Full of sweet juice and sunshine! The sentiment rings clear still though; go follow your dreams, you're not getting any younger now, are you?

John Newman - Losing Sleep (Disciples Remix)

John Newman has had an incredible year with both his debut single Love Me Again and debut album Tribute hitting #1 in his native UK. Safe to say is that we're crazy nuts about his voice which totally remind us of iconic soul master Otis Redding. Losing Sleep is the third single and one of the album standouts for us. The torment of unrequited love is explained with raw frankness and a choir. That says it all really no?London act Disciples add a very tasty house treatment to this project and we can't get enough of this one. It's almost like John is out clubbing at 3am trying to run from his heartache and dancing in the shadows by bodies moving in the flashing lights. Wow. This is definitely added to our Best of '13 list stat! Thoughts?

Neneh Cherry - Buffalo Stance (Groove Motion's 2013 Dub Rub)

We're just shy of two months away from having a brand new Neneh Cherry solo studio album. First in 16 years! Hot damn! Since NYE is a comin' before then; how 'bout celebrating early with this smokin' Buffalo Stance dub rub? Thought so! The 1988 original we'll never stop loving and you always find new sounds when listening it seems. No wonder it hit #3 in both the UK and US + #1 in Sweden of course! This rub builds on the original dub and adds some sweet contemporary bass to the classic stems. Grab the DL below and bust those moves. We know we will!

Madonna - Drowned World/Substitute for Love (William Orbit's 2013 Reverie Mix)

Madonna's 1998 single Drowned World/Substitute for Love is one of our all time favourite singles by her. In fact, one of our all time favourite tracks period. The melancholy paired with tenderness and amazing ethereal qualities makes this such a beautiful song. Reflecting back on your life to find you've replaced love in your heart with materialistic values, pushing people away perhaps to get what you want. Regretting it. That is quite some topic! William Orbit is the legendary co-pilot behind the whole Ray of Light album project and today some 15+ years later he's offering this brand new reverie mix of it. The gorgeous pulsation of life and finding the light is just what is needed on a dark Sunday a week away from Christmas. It's almost painfully beautiful to be honest. The extended vertebral column of the song with those notes of joy and sorrow is almost too much beauty to listen to for a music lover. Amazing!

Premiere: Charlotte Gainsbourg - Hey Joe

Charlotte Gainsbourg stars as Joe with Shia LaBeouf among others in Lars von Trier's much hyped two-part movie Nymphomaniac. An edited standalone version will hit Danish theaters on December 25th. Much to do with the hype is the fact that von Trier has digitally composed porn actors genitals in full on sex mode on all the actors, thus creating scenes containing non simulated acts. Clever! (And we'd say that is a hybrid of animation.) For the soundtrack Charlotte has recorded, with her longtime producer Beck, a cover of the absolute classic Hey Joe. The song was made famous by The Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1966/1967 as their debut single and is now a rock standard for sure. We love this new version and the sultry, whispering vocals add an eeriness moreso than sexiness which is scary and great. The rock production compliments and highlights the dissonance between the lyrics and delivery making it a well worth add to what we think will be quite an experience at the cinema soon. Watch the movie trailer here! Thoughts?
