Premiere: Feist - Pleasure

It's been over five long years since we last had a new Feist album. Thankfully the wait is almost over! April 28th sees release of her fifth studio album - Pleasure. First taster is the title track, a raw and guitar driven track with those iconic vocals front and centre. It's sparse and really builds up a painting of sounds as the time progresses, starting so soft you wonder if the stream is not working. And then takes off and soars. Says Leslie Feist:

I made this record last winter with 2 of my closest friends, Mocky and Renaud LeTang. I was raw and so were the takes. Our desire was to record that state without guile or go-to's and to pin the songs down with conviction and our straight up human bodies. I titled the album Pleasure like I was planting a seed or prophecising some brightness. The experience of pleasure is mild or deep, sometimes temporal, sometimes a sort of low grade lasting, usually a motivator. If the way you look at things is how they look then my motivation is to look with a brighter eye.

Video Premiere: Peaches Feat. Feist - I Mean Something

Peaches and Feist used to be roommates in Canada - imagine how cool to share with them! On Peaches new album Rub they collaborate on the hot I Mean Something and now we get the visuals. Sadly there's no Feist in it, but we get a super cool posse that really knows how to work it. The hard beat and rap, that chorus sticking like glue + mix of people and hot styling - we eat it up like it was that cake, haha. Check out below! Thoughts?

Nice Day For A White Christmas Mixtape

We woke up to a white and snowy world today! How fitting since it's advent season and all. This all spells christmas music, mulled wine and gingerbread cookies today, at least for us. Our classic holiday mix still holds its own for sure. We're absolutely wild about El Perro Del Mar's Oh! What a Christmas with its nod to Phil Spector, Feist's take on the classic hymn Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming and Elvis' amazing vocals. Plus no christmas is complete without Judy Garland and Ella Fitzgerald and the rest of the gang of course. Incredibly good music! Enjoy and have a great start to the holiday season!

El Perro Del Mar - Oh! What A Christmas
She & Him - The Christmas Waltz
Elvis Presley - If Every Day Was Like Christmas
Low - Just Like Christmas
Darlene Love - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
Feist - Lo, How a Rose e're Blooming
Ella Fitzgerald - O Holy Night
The Raveonettes - The Christmas Song
Hurts - All I Want For Christmas Is New Years Day
John & Yoko and The Plastic Ono Band - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
Judy Garland - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
First Aid Kit - Blue Christmas
Johnny Cash - Silent Night
Stevie Wonder - One Little Christmas Tree
Jens Lekman - Run Away With Me

Feist - Graveyard (Trust Remix) - Free Download

We love Feist and listen to her frequently. In this case nothing says summer and joy as much as an icy remix of her Graveyard track right? Her label mates the Toronto based duo Trust takes her fantastic Metals lullaby into a whole new realm. A whole new universe in fact. Gone is the soft groove and the somber sorrow. Replaced with steel and stones along with a spaceship two thirds in. Grab the free download below! Enjoy! Original version + lyrics here!

It's talking around not so much the location of a graveyard but maybe more so all of the entangled thoughts that might be going through everyone when they're in the graveyard. - Feist

Feist - Bittersweet Melodies - Video Premiere

Irina Werning's photo project Back To The Future went viral last year. Not too surprising as it's a lovely idea and awesome execution. Now it's been given a second home as Feist's new video Bittersweet Melodies is made up entirely of the still images, combined with some behind the scenes from the shoots. The lyrics combined with the existing imagery makes perfect sense. So beautiful together!

With their bittersweet melodies
Like a sweet memory
Bittersweet melodies
Can't go back, I can't go on (without those)
