ANOHNI F.K.A. Antony Hegarty just dropped 4 Degrees - the first single from the upcoming album Hopelessness, co-produced by Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never! It's a breathtaking listen. The joyus music and regal sound of it all paired with the blood chilling lyrcis. WOW! It's rushing and emotional and we love it. And yes, it's about the climate change. Read what Anohni has to say here.
It's a whole new world.
Let’s be brave and tell the truth as much as we can.
Björk's 2007 Volta album closes with the minimalistic yet intricate Antony Hegarty duet My Juvenile. In the hands of Parisian musician and producer Akeda it becomes a warm and inviting breeze of love and we're blown away. It's a complete 180 from the sharpness of the original and so complements their voices. The lyrics speak of letting go and let your biggest love free to be, with Antony acting as the concience. Whether it's letting go of your younger self, a lover or child the sentiment speaks true in each case. Sending warmth. The new music flows and swirls around the vocals like white mist and gently rests upon the warmth and love that is exuding. Absolutely amazing. You can grab the free .mp3 by liking Akeda's page here. Enjoy!
Everything is comin' up Antony Hegarty - and we love it! We've been playing Antony and the Johnsons new album Cut The World like you wouldn't believe. And now we get this massive treat the same week! Two night's ago Hercules and Love Affair, whom we adore, took the stage at The London Wonderground, and Antony joined 'em to sing the incredible Blind, something that has never happened before. That's right, they had never done it live before! Check out the rousing live version below! LOVE the background info we got too! They really thought this bangin' track sucked after they'd recorded it in a cheap studio, and shelved it for 2 years! Gah! This made us love it even more!
We're so excited! The amazing Antony and the Johnsons drop their collection of live symphonic performances of songs from the band's 4 full length albums tomorrow. Cut The World is recorded in Copenhagen with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra. Also, this marks the first time the title track, a live favourite, has been made available in a professional recording. Happy days! It's one of Antony's new songs for The Life and Death of Marina Abramovi - a performance biography of the godmother of performance art, re-imagined by visionary director Robert Wilson and starring Antony along with Marina herself and Willem Dafoe. Only Antony Hegarty could make dark lyrics like these so enjoyable to listen to. From what we've heard so far of the album it's incredible and tracks like the legendary I Fell In Love With A Dead Boy and iconic You Are My Sister are given whole new atmospheres to breathe and grow in. So amazing. Listen to Cut The World and the spoken word Future Feminism below! Further listening here! Enjoy!
Update: Here's the just released video! In the description it says; This video may not be suitable for all audiences. Viewer discretion is advised. And they sure are right! Starring Willem Dafoe it paints a scene when the matriarchal uproar starts in an every day sitiuation. WOW.
