Premiere: Frida - I Know There's Something Going On (Lindstrøm Remix)

Wow, wow, wow! This Lindstrøm remix of Frida's I Know There's Something Going On is fire! In 1982 she was coming off of her massive ABBA era and started working with Phil Collins. The result was a harder and edgier sound on her third solo album Something's Going On. It sold 1,5 million copies and that makes it the biggest seller of any solo material from the ABBA members. On October 23rd we're getting a wide re-release of the whole album filled and to celebrate this Norwegian super hero Lindstrøm has sprinkled some major magic on the lead track. We cannot even. Worked into an almost 10 minute track we're getting the integrity of the track intact but filled with new sounds and a whole new atmosphere. It's excellent and a bit claustrophobic - Frida's paranoia is clear here since it's so stretched out and dubbed. Love it! Enjoy both the full vocal + dub version below!

For Tori Amos fans her Boys For Pele album era in '96 & '97 was an especially glowing time. It was considered then as her least commercial and accessible material released yet debuted at #2 in the US and was her first to debut in the top 10. Fans had a reason to celebrate big time as it sold well, had a multitude of layers to try and penetrate plus scored a huge and now timeless dance classic. Professional Widow, thought to be about Courtney Love, is in its album version a funky, hellish and brutal song filled with harpsichord and sharp vocals and lyrcis that borrow from Edgar Allan Poe's short story The Sphinx. For the single release it had a huge makeover by Armand Van Helden that cut up the lyrics with *it's got to be big* looped as a mantra + added in the song title. It also added a gorgeous club beat for the ages. The result was a huge #1 in the UK that became a club classic. Welsh duo ANTWON&NTM builds on this remix with a sleek deep house feel. Love how it adds a contemporary vibe yet doesn't lose the shimmer of its roots. The guys from Swansea truly offers something new and big that Tori's picky widow would have no problems accepting. Lovin' how plush and solid the new Janet Jackson album era is. No Sleeep! Title track Unbreakable! Both so amazing and harking back to classic JJ but also looking forward. This Initial Talk mashup of Sleeep and another Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis production - S.O.S. Band's Even When You Sleep from 1986 is just beyond. Love it and some! They go perfectly togetha and makes us wanna dim the lights, rock with a lover and get down, haha. The 80's production is stellar and so funky, perfect for JJ - after all she ruled the robo-funk in '86 with Control. Enjoy! Thank you Vasilios!
