The Academy Awards 2010

The Academy Awards 2010 is today's most discussed event it seems. Click here for all the winners! Big congrats to Kathryn Bigelow who became the first woman ever to win Best Director in the 82 years that has passed since the first awards ceremony. Glass ceiling anyone? Bigelow's Strange Days from 1995 is one of our personal favourites and we can think of numerous films we love with a woman behind the camera. Sandra Bullock and Mo'nique both totally deserved to win Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, and we just totally love Bullock's acceptance speech. Watch 'em!

Yves Saint Laurent - Fall/Winter 2010/2011 Fashion Show

Yves Saint Laurent launched their fall collection for 10/11 in Paris yesterday. Love the use of the Nine Inch Nails track The Hand That Feeds. We love the details used in this collection, the pleats, cuts etc. The pants suits and trenchcoats. Yeah baby. The show kicked off with a short film made by Bruce Weber. Check it out below.

Exit Through The Gift Shop - A Banksy Film

Exit Through The Gift Shop is the upcoming documentary style film about graffiti artist Banksy. It's billed as the world's first street art disaster movie. Shot from the point of view of a shop keeper who turns to documentary film making, the narrative changes when Banksy begins to influence the story. It'll have it's premiere during the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and is reported to contain the first known recording of Banksy's real voice. It is still unknown whether or not the artist's face will also be revealed. Have a look at a clip below. What do you think?

Metropolis by Karl Lagerfeld

Fritz Lang's 1927 masterpiece Metropolis has inspired numerous generations of film makers, artists and designers. Set in a futuristic urban dystopia it seems forever relevant. We've fallen in love with Karl Lagerfeld's interpretation for the February 2010 issue of German Vogue. Using his favourite male model Baptiste Giabiconi and Toni Garrn he's created a beautiful editorial that stays true to the original. Watch a clip from the movie below.
