Sam Sparro continues with the 1940's theme in his lastest video I Wish I Never Met You. He's also channeling some serious Michael Jackson Smooth Criminal vibes - which works since he has a gangster theme going on. We're thinking this is a metaphor for a real bad relationship - mixing with the wrong crowd. With an ending like that it's pretty obvious what Sam thinks of that fella! We really like the original mix with its hot piano riffs and electro vibes. The remixes are sick too - we gathered all of 'em below for ya! Listen & watch!
Lana Del Rey live premiered Carmen in London just last week - and OMFG here's is a brand new lo-fi video to it that she edited herself. Just when we were getting used to the sleek big budget videos like the last two ones she goes and gives us this big treat. As we always say, we love it when Lana is in a more intimate, toned down environment. So we're more than excited to have Carmen join Video Games and the original Blue Jeans videos. She finishes off by dancing in a garden to one of our favorite classical pieces for piano ever - Erik Satie's Gymnopédie No.1. Have a look! The info box says the Carmen video is a bio pic - could this mean we get a several videos to this one too? The lyrics to Carmen are just incredible so we'll take how many she wants!
Québec based singer Marie-Mai has dropped a cover in French of Robyn's Call Your Girlfriend. How cool that the Carlsson sound gets spread around the world even more! The production follows the original closely, howeva, we really miss some of the unique sounds from the original recording. Plus, where is the badass dance breakdown!? Those components missing makes this really clean. We like it dirtay! Let's hope this is the radio edit! Have a listen! Thoughts?
Living here in paradise I want you to be free. We first wrote about Sunshine Taboo back in August of last year, and a lot of things has happened. Since then the House of Wallenberg were one of the driving forces behind stopping Jamaican artist Sizzla from performing in Stockholm - due to his lyrical content that promotes murderof LGBTQ's based on their sexuality. Activism at its finest, and beyond amazing. Because of that it's more than fitting that today marks the international release of the single! It's a collaboration with punk legend and The Slits front woman Ari Up - the track is a worry for Ari's son who came out when he was 16 as gay when they lived in Jamaica. (For those not aware, Jamaica is considered as the most homophobic place on earth.) Sadly, Ari passed away from cancer in October last year. Petter Wallenberg told Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet that Jamaica was Ari's paradise, but became the opposite for her son - the song tells the story of a sunny paradise and the hell that grows in its shadows. The beat reminds us of Sade, Culture Club and Ace of Base all wrapped into a sweet punky caramel. The vinyl is out today on Permanent Vacation and can be purchased here. iTunes carries it too!
Life is way too precious and short to ever promote hate and violence - the idea of promoting murder is beyond comprehension. We all need to stand up for love, compassion and acceptance of people's sexuality at all times. Always!
Wow, Lana Del Rey covers Kasbian's Goodbye Kiss and turns it into a true Lana original. It suits her perfectly like we don't even know. Effortless! Plus we looooove her live performances. She's so awesome, haha. Have a look at the BBC Live Lounge below! This was filmed back in January when she did the Maida Vale sessions - but aired on Radio 1 just now! Original below!
