Scissor Sisters stopped by BBC's The Voice and did the live TV premiere of their new single Only The Horses. We like the track a lot - and it's great to finally here Ana Matronic's vocals on it. Sadly it sounds like Jake had problems with his voice, struggling with the high notes - and this sure is a hard song to sing live so you need all the vocals powers you can get! Have a look below - we'll update with a HD when it becomes available. Updated!
Starting today we will show full documentaries on the blog as a Sunday treat. We thought it'd be an awesome experience showcasing ones we love + finding new amazing stuff. Let us know if you have tips!
First up is one of our all time favourites - Jenny Livingston's iconic Paris Is Burning from 1990. Sooo much can be said about this one - we'd need hours talking about it. It stands as an important time capsule regarding equality, gender and social structures. Not to mention showing the end of the golden age of ball culture with its art of voguing and the amazing and intimate portraits of the different families. We wish we could teleport us back in time and visit all of them. Willi Ninja, Angie & Venus Xtravaganza, Octavia St. Laurent... It's simply a must watch! The scenes that gets us every time are the ones with the small kids in Harlem, they are so young and seem so protective of each other. Also, one of the queens who after her death was discovered having had a dead body stuffed in her closet makes for a chilling and insane read. If you wanna watch for the first time, or re-watch the full documentary is below. Let us know your thoughts and memories. Enjoy! Further reading: New York Times 1993 article Paris Has Burned.
Haha, so many laughs were ensured at Alan Carr over the weekend. Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator stopped by as his movie comes out on Wednesday - and in true Cohen pulled out all the stops! Rebecca Ferguson showed up with her broken foot and showed off her flawless and elegant style performing her new single Glitter & Gold. If you wanna jump straight to her start watching around the 9:30 mark. Enjoy!
Azealia Banks is one busy gurl at the moment. She's dropping her debut album 1991 later this MONTH + the brand new mixtape Fantastic later this summer. She JUST dropped the track Jumanji - produced by electronic artist Hudson Mohawke and Nick Hook. As always Azealia's rap is tight as hell and super hard with a badass beat. Also, we're thinking Jumanji could refer to overgrown pubic hair, haha!
Being one of the American Idol judges - JLo showed how it's done by performing her Dance Again last night - pretty much reenacting the video. We gotta say we still love the dance breakdown with her bf Casper Smart. Such a great choreography by JR Taylor! The ending is pretty cute too!
