Premiere: Marina and The Diamonds - True Colors (Cyndi Lauper Cover)

The wonderful Marina Diamandis is giving us all a treat for the new year! She's done a cover of Cyndi Lauper's 1986 monster hit come evergreen and LGBT anthem True Colors and just dropped it. For some reason she omits the words "like a rainbow" but hey, it's good anyway! Maybe it even gives more mystique to her cover? The organic take reminds us of a lot of Ane Brun's MAGICAL take. The wonderful Marina Diamandis is someone we'd never Forget and with this new single from upcoming album FROOT she drops one of her best tracks yet. She hits us right in the solar plexus with this frank look at deep hurt and diving deep into the pool of memories and pull the drain stopper out. Forgive and forget is hard and sometimes takes almost superhuman powers to make it through but on the other side a whole ocean of opportunities are waiting. We love how this heavy topic is discussed over a very organic and straight forward production. It's refreshing to listen to and makes us even more curious of the full album - out March 16th. Also, how amazing does she pronounce the word tortoise? We'd happily walk slowly next to you Marina! Enjoy! Thoughts?

Premiere: Marina and The Diamonds - I'm A Ruin

We absolutely love Marina Diamandis' knack for pairing fluffy pop hooks with devastating lyric content and then top it off with stellar vocals soaring high. Her FROOT era is shaping up to be a grand one and yeees I'm A Ruin is anything but ruined. After a few spins we're totally hooked and feel a bit funny too. Elated but sad. Could it be that Marina is ruining us with her magic and darkness? We'll take it! FROOT - the album is out on April 3rd - bring it on!

Video Premiere: Marina and The Diamonds - Immortal

Marina and The Diamonds closes '14 and opens the door to the brand new year with her FROOT of the month. Immortal is a mid tempo track with gorgeous vocals about what has eluded mankind since the dawn of time - the fact that none of us will live forever. The reflectiveness is perfect for January 1st and the emotive tone is truly palpable. The video treatment is a somber one with Marina Lambrini Diamandis looking back at childhood videos and what we suspect is her grandmother. Life is truly one hell of a trip and we know enough to be very happy we're still around to be able to enjoy music and write these very words. Enjoy! FROOT the album is out on April 6th btw!   

Premiere: Marina and The Diamonds - FROOT (Oliver Nelson Remix)

Marina and The Diamonds served up some delicious FROOT salad in October and her generous streak is far from over. Currently she is giving a daily treat for FROOTMAS and just being her amazing self while doing so. A huge gift also comes in the form of Swedish producer Oliver Nelson, which we spoke about just yesterday, and his massive n' JOOSY *d i s c o* remix of all this FROOT. Taking the quite contemporary feelin' of the original and treating it to some old school strings and one catchy classic dance beat. That intro alone feels classic and really makes Marina's heavenly voice shine, shine, shine. Nice! We gotta have this froot joosed and bottled stat! Enjooooy!
