The Knife - Let's Talk About Gender Baby (Planningtorock Full Of Fire Remix)

The Knife live in May was an absolute thought provoking pleasure to watch. It was more of an art installation than a "real" concert and we know many had issues with so much of it being playback. We liked the idea a lot since it worked so well with the overall show. One of the standout's was the insane almost 10 minute moment of watching the siblings and their dancers standing completely still while the album version of Full of Fire was blasting out of the speaker system. We know that single was not what people expected either as a lead single, however it's grown on us a lot. It's hard rave influences and lyrics are so perfect and very The Knife. The Dreijer sibling's old colleague on the Tomorrow, In A Year opera, Planningtorock, lifts the awesome line let's talk about gender baby, let's talk about you and me from it and totally does a brand new song. It has a fun lightness to it and the synth sounds like it could be part of a fun 80's band covering classic songs in a hotel bar somewhere. If you wanna pick this baby up it's a limited hand-stamped vinyl only white label (of course) and can be found here. Enjoy! Thoughts?

Peaches - Burst! (Original Mix + Remixes) - Premiere

Peaches drops her new single Burst! and gives a peek what her brand new collaboration with Boys Noize and XXXchange sounds like! Plus we get all the remixes in one go - loads of 'em! We're always curious what she has in store for us, I Feel Cream is one of our most played albums from the last few years! The original mix sounds like a Peaches classic already - dark and danceable with some heavy bass and distorted vocals and guitars. The remixes are fun - watch out for the sick ass one from Bart B - laser overdose could happen! Planningtorock take their characteristic sound  and apply heavily - wow! Anyway, you have a lot of listening to do so we won't keep ya. Enjoy!

The Knife - Colouring of Pigeons - Free Download

The Knife, in collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock, are to release the studio version of the opera Tomorrow, In A Year, on the 1st March 2010. Free download of Colouring of Pigeons for all mail list subscribers here.

Commissioned by Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma to write the music for their opera based on Charles Darwin and his book ‘On the Origin of the Species’, The Knife decided to make this a collaborative process, working with artists Mt. Sims and Planningtorock for the first time, to capture the huge width of the Darwin and evolution theme. They extensively researched Darwin related literature and articles, with Olof attending a field recording workshop in the Amazon to find inspiration and to record sounds.
