Premiere: La Roux - Uptight Downtown (Just Kiddin' Remix)

Oh yeah, the temperature is rising alright! We are a mere week away until the new La Roux album Trouble In Paradise drops! Thankfully new UK duo Just Kiddin' offers something to hold us over until then. Their remix of Uptight Downtown is anything but. It bubbles with summer vibes and breezy synths plus the chopped vocals makes it play like an old school dub version. Very awesome! That xylophone needs a special nod. Too sweet! Enjoooy!    

Premiere: La Roux - Let Me Down Gently (George FitzGerald Remix)

We're just a few weeks shy from the 7/7 release of La Roux's Trouble In Paradise album. First taster Let Me Down Gently was with its slow burning fire quite a surprise return after her club friendly mega hits. UK house producer George FitzGerald infuses this torch song with some of the original energy when he raises the roof not so gently, haha. We love the classic house flavour of this mix paired with the grief tinged vocals and heartwrenching lyrics. Yikes, and top marks!    

Premiere: La Roux - Tropical Chancer

La Roux keeps on teasing us with invites to the summer party that is her second album Trouble In Paradise. Tropical Chancer is a mellow beach anthem, under a tropical sunset. Where Uptight Downtown sounded more direct and in your face this groove is very laidback and tailor made for warm nights filled with dancing, talking and late night dips on the ocean. La Roux is back in full force with a summer jam! Uptight Downtown follows the more somber Let Me Down Gently and kicks up the party mood a few notches. The music even picks up where David Bowie's Let's Dance left off! We love this breezy kinda carefree vibe, perfect for summer and late night dancing. It's effortless and cool and the subtle backing vocals we cannot even. Ben Langmaid has left the duo by the way so now Elly truly is a solo act. Listen below! Thoughts? La Roux are finally back with new material! Let Me Down Gently is the first taster of their upcoming second album Trouble In Paradise. It's hard to fathom it's five years since their debut album dropped. Wow! We saw Elly Jackson and keyboardist Mickey O'Brien live at The Roxy in Los Angeles in April 2009 and it truly feels like a lifetime ago! The new single is a slow burner that kicks off when you least expect it. Nice! It's so smooth and the looming saxophone adds an urgency and a sense of doom. Setting you up slowly to be let down....
