Tracey Thorn - Joy - Premiere

Tracey Thorn's holiday album Tinsel and Lights has received brilliant reviews and is out now. She's collected some truly stunning covers of The White Stripes, Dolly Parton and Judy Garland to mention a few, along with four original tracks. Joy is the second single and the first out of the Tracey penned material. It's indeed a pure joy to listen to it. The warmth and sensitivity in her voice and instrumentation is amazing. It's like we're standing next to Tracey playing the piano in her warm house with a cup of tea enjoying the moment. Very personal and warm and aware of life and health being precious things to celebrate. Oh Tracey!

Tracey Thorn - In The Cold, Cold Night (The White Stripes Cover)

We've had Tracey Thorn's Christmas album Tinsel and Lights on our radar for close to a month now. Not until today has it felt OK to mention any xmas festivities though, haha. Thankfully - the first album taster is an awesome cover of The White Stripes In The Cold, Cold Night something we can get behind with ease. Honestly, Tracey is the only person around that can release a press image like that for a holiday album! The lights switched OFF, looking cold and not too cheerful, no snow - obviously we love it! The album contains some serious xmas classics too, and it's so awesome that she will be part of our celebrations this year! Her voice is so different from Meg's and the warmth she brings actually makes the night less cold. The lyrics are pure genius for a holiday anthem like this has become now. Everything But The Girl - Night Time (The xx Cover) - Premiere!

Two of our favorite bands on one track? Believe it! Wow! OK, so this is will be released under Tracey Thorn's name on her new EP Night Time, but her life partner Ben Watt is playing and singing backing vocals so it definitely counts as a new EBTG track! The first in over a decade! We've waited so long - since 1999's Temperamental. This cover came to be last year when The xx were commissioning covers for an album. This album never materialized so now we're getting this EP. We love both EBTG and The xx so it feels like our b'day today. The perfect gift! Have a listen below to both versions of Night Time!
