Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty

We were in a cab on our way to a meeting at a fashion PR company during Copenhagen Fashion Week when our best friend texted us the news about Lee McQueen's death, and we let out a scream of disbelief that made the cab driver look over his shoulder. That was last year, and the world feels a bit darker without him. The retrospective exhibition of Alexander McQueen's work opened this week at The Metropolitan Muesum of Art in New York, and will run until July 31st. Sarah Burton presented the Alexander McQueen SS collection for 2011 yesterday at Paris Fashion Week. She worked with Lee for over 14 years and has been head of womenswear design since 2000 so she's perfect for the role as creative director for the brand. We think Lee's spirit and creativiness is soaring over this entire collection.

Björk - Gloomy Sunday - Live at Alexander McQueen's Memorial

Wearing McQueen angel wings and an ostrich feather dress Björk performed the Hungarian song Gloomy Sunday at the memorial for Lee Alexander McQueen at St. Pauls Cathedral yesterday, during London Fashion Week. The song known as The Hungarian Suicide Song tells a dark and haunting story of lost love and ending ones life. It was very fitting on this sad, sad occasion.
