Premiere: Ali Love - Another

Hot Natured's Ali Love is readying his sophomore album to be released early next year. We still haven't quite recovered from the sheer brilliance of the Róisín Murphy collaboration exactly a month ago. Oh well, here's the solo Another hit and we can't stop repeating it, haha. It plays like a classic house diva anthem but with a eerie emotion shining through the veneer of the house beat. The bassline echoes the hurt in Ali's voice and for some reason we can picture Robin S doing a stellar cover of this. The vinyl drops on October 14th with the digital following on November 14th. Enjoy! Thoughts?

Shep Pettibone - 1983 Mastermix Dance Party, New York 98.7 WRKS Kiss.FM

Shep Pettibone was in the summer of 1983 a year into creating mastermixes for now defunct and legendary NYC dance radio station Kiss.FM 98.7. His pioneering work creating remixes and mastermixes from reel to reel cut n' paste became so popular they were released as vinyl compilations + saw some overtake the originals in popularity. He started producing for iconic Salsoul Records and his idea of submitting several remixes for one song, thus fitting more radio formats, became the norm in the industry. He was an early collaborator with Pet Shop Boys and did wonders for Janet Jackson's singles from the Control and Rhythm Nation 1814 albums. Of course, he's most famous work is with Madonna; the ingenious production on 1990's Vogue and 1992 album Erotica - legendary. Sooo, we found this mix and wanted to post it as it's awesome, but also as the others are available on vinyl they have a tracklist and cover art. This baby clocks in at almost 100 minutes and we know some of the sickenin' beats. There's Herbie Hancock's Rockit, Nunk (New wave funk) by Warp 9 First Choice's Let No Man Put Asunder and Crown Heights Affair's Rock The World to name but a few. We can only imagine clubbing in the 80's, it would have been so cool to be part of that. But how fantastic since this is a summer '83 mix to be able to post it in July '13! Shep's website looks like it's straight outta 1996 and we saw he owns the Paradise nightclub in New Jersey so we should all hang out there next summer together! Grab the mix below and d.a.n.c.e! PS. There aren't many images of this legendary producer so above is him and M recording Erotica!

Daft Punk Feat. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers - Get Lucky - Premiere

After like a million spliced together fan versions of Get Lucky we've been holding off posting anything so far. Words cannot express how badly we wanna hear Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams and frickin' NILE RODGERS on the real deal. Even though the final mixing sounds a bit strange on this one; (and are those Pharrell's vocals at the very beginning??) they could've gone for a more 'organic' sound no? Supposedly this is the radio edit! If not it's an insanely well crafted fan version as it's ridiculously groovy and awesome and contain new lyrcis and ending. Enjoy below! We'll keep ya posted on the authenticity!

Update: This is a confirmed fake and the added lyrcis/vocals are taken from this Pharrell interview. We'll post the real deal once it becomes available.

Update 2: Turns out it wasn't a fake, but the real deal! Stream the official radio edit from iTunes below! Can't get enough of that disco groove!

James Blake - Retrograde - Premiere

Electronic singer/songwriter James Blake is back with Retrograde - the first single from sophomore album Overgrown, out on April 8th. As always with James there is something really endearing and lovely but with sharp jagged edges. The dissonance really shines on Retrograde - the experience leaves us a bit shaken and wanting more. Listen below!
