Dolly Parton's 1973 masterpiece Jolene is easily one of our all time favourite songs. It's perfect in its starkness and direct complexity. The instant guitar hook, raw delivery on a heavy subject and amazing harmonies all build greatness. East London duo Sub Secret twists and turns the emotive vocals and releases brand new emotions from it. They're a bit subdued here and paired with a chopped up guitar and gorgeous piano. Usually Dolly bootlegs can be pretty heavy handed, haha. This one however hits all the marks. It's a new take that delivers on the suprise factor but also in an excellent execution and production.
